I played The Marionette and it cut me to the core. It was so sad and beautiful. It touched me deeply. I felt like crying afterwards.
I can't wait until the voice-acting is finished!
Are there any other recommendation? I love drama and stories I can sink into.
I'd have to say Eternally Us, with Downfall as a close runner up. And, I'm really not joking, but The Orange Man (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=1152) really struck a chord with me for some reason.
Ben Jordan case 7 was very moving when I first played it.
Do commercial AGS games count? ???
I loved Diamonds in the Rough. Wonderfula game. :D
Also, Downfall was very touching. ;D
Since frustration is an emotion, I cast my vote for Limey Lizard: Waste Wizard. There were a couple of times that I thought I was going to pull my hair out. ;)
Other than that, I guess Eternally Us.
I'm gonna say Downfall definitely. Marionette is a great runner up especially the scene in the balcony.
People also tend to love Eternally Us. So try that as well. Linus Bruckman and Anna by Vince Twelve also have a great value imho.
It's not really sink-to, but try Disquiet (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=1333). Lots of people found it depressing. Also very short and done within 7 days.
When it goes for story, drama, and meaning then:
Downfall
Blackwell Legacy (well, the whole series has emotional moments, but for me Legacy in particular)
A Second Face: The Eye of Geltz
Anna
But I was also emotional about game world atmosphere and/or music in games like:
Infinity String
Shifter's Box
The Winter Rose
Snow
Also, I'm still the most nostalgic about the time I spend playing Nelly Cootalot - probably the most fun I had playing an AGS game.
I'll second Marionette.
I've also gotten really mad at games I didn't like, does that count as emotional?
The Winter Rose as well.
I like my emotional involvement not being so obvious- then it's the actual stuffing that is moving you, rather than obvious, over-the-top "tricks".
I think Awakener really made me feel loved. :)
And a little scared, at the end. ;D

Seconded. Be
llen & Sebstian = noncliché emotions!
As so many others have said, Marionette was of course great.
However I found the flashback scene in Snakes of Avalon pretty disturbing (in a good way... I think?!), that counts as one of the most emotional scenes in any AGS game I've played.
Also, some scenes in Prodigal were pretty powerful...
(Prodigal is an old game - released back in 2005 - so I've put the db link below in case anyone wants to check it out who's a bit newer to the AGS scene. I'm hoping the sequel will one day be released... it's been in the works for quite some time now!)

That's very nice to hear. More so than if you just said that the game was emotional overall.

That section of the game took my completely by surprise, and really stayed with me. I think it totally redefined the player's perception of Jack's character. (At least, it had that effect on me.)

Nice. :(
