Nostradamus

QFG is the best!!

But don't play just 1 and 4.. 2 and 3 are better than 4!  QFG2 is the best in the series in my opinion

AGA

!

II is the best, but no way is III better than IV. III was by far the weakest game in the series...

Offtopic, but PaulSC gets a million points for having Geogaddi cover art as his avatar.

Wow, that didn't take long - I only put it on there yesterday! One of my all time favorate album covers, though.

Heh, I played a bit of BaSS and that annoyed me SO. MUCH. Nobody uses emphasis in EVERY. SENTENCE. Ahem, sorry. :P

Yeah, I can SEE how it could drive SOME people crazy, but I thought it just ADDED to the CAMPY comic book FUN.

Actually, the one thing that struck me about BaSS is that for a sci-fi game the scope is surprisingly small - I mean, the whole thing is basically set in two buildings. I still think it works fine, but it would've been very nice to see a sequel that explores the game world a bit more.

Mr Jake

I think it added to the whole feel of restriction of the characters by corrupt link :D

I played 3 like 10 years ago, I liked it a lot but I've read from a lot of reviewers that it's the weakest game in the series. About 2, I'm waiting for the AGD remake. ^_^

So here's another question, I played a bit of QF1 a while ago, and it seemed kinda slow. Does the pacing of the game get better as you progress?

Sort of like this then?

Mr Jake

Maybe AGA :)

I hope they do release it, it would be good.. I was thinking at the end of BaSS 'Oh, I wish I got a chance to explore the new LINC-free world.

Hard to answer because I didn't think it was slow. There's not really any "timing" in the game. Once you know what to do, you can get through the game incredibly quickly. I love it, personally. It's definitely one of the best of the classics. QFGII is the most fun though... I love flirting with the money changer ^_^

Thanks for the website Lazy Z, I found it here http://www.sold-out.co.uk/soldout/

with shipping it works out to be about $20 Australian, which isn't bad

I personally think QFG4 is the best of the series.Ã,  The atmosphere of the game just draws you right in, and the music by Aubrey Hodges is outstanding, even better than the music to QFG2, in my opinion.Ã,  One thing about the Quest for Glory series, is that the storyline in each game is quite powerful, and I think this is what makes QFG4 the best in my mind.Ã,  The story is gripping, and the characters are deep and memorable.

GOD!! I dont believe none of uve recommended Sanitarium!! :o
All i can say bout the game is that its "right up there" with Grim Fandango and Longest Journey...one of the greatest adventure games ever.
Dont take my word for it...chk out any site on the net...ull see.
btw...i firmly u should play them all...thats a heck of lot of sweet games...lucky u!! ;)

GarageGothic

Here's what you do - start playing QFG1 very thoroughly - I suggest playing as a thief, because he's the only one who can get all skills and thus will be able to take all the challenges of the game (and always have multiple way of solving them). Then, when you finish the game a master of all skills and with tons of gold in your pockets, Tierra will be ready to release the QFG2 remake - which is, at least in one respect, an improvement over the old version. After finishing that, you skip over QFG3, which is pretty poor - especially for cross-class characters - and go straight to QFG4, importing your character as a Paladin.

See, problem solved ;)

Enjoy playing!

Play BaSS, then BaSS again, then a couple of more times.
By the time you read this you've already read it.

Toefur

I actually played BASS three times in a row when I first played it. The third time was because all of a sudden I felt like it was a really short game, so I wanted to see how long it took to play straight through. It took something like 40 minutes.  :o

sedriss

Yeah. Its not that long, but it still rocks.
I once played through DOTT in 25 minutes  ;D

Again, thanks guys. I decided I'll start with QFG1 and play it thoroughly as GarageGothic suggested (though not as a thief... thieves are not my style :P) and hope that AGD will have finished their remake of QFG2, so I'll move to that. If not, in the mean time I'll play Discworld, maybe BaSS too since I hear it's KINDA short so it WOULDN'T take a LONG time TO finish. Sorry, couldn't help it :P. After all that, I'll play QFG4.

I decided it's too sunny here lately to play games such as Sanitarium and Bureau 13, I'll wait until Fall/Winter to get back to those. :P

Yay, my games arrived from 'sold-out' I got 3 games, one was free with the offer although you still pay for its postage.

I got Broken Sword 1 & 2, so now I have the full set

and I got Lotus Challenge, which is just a car game, but I think I had an earlier version for the Sega Megadrive.

Anyway, it's interesting that BS 1&2 work fine in XP even without scummvm, and on the box it says BS1 works with win95/98 NOT Me, BS2 works with 95/98 & Me.

But the problem is Lotus challenge says it works with 98/Me/XP but I can't get it to work

It comes up with a message as soon as I click to start it, which says Lotus.exe must close sorry for the inconvenience.

it is a big inconvenience cause it says that evertyime. I've tried re-installing, and changing all the diferent settings in the external config setup for the game.

I'm not sure if the problem is the fact I've upgraded to XP service pack 2 RC2?

It's strange that the only game that says it works with XP is the only one that doesn't

I tried installing it on my other computer with win98se, it loaded up alright with no errors but it doesn't have a compatible graphics card for the game so it doesn't work properly.

I don't know if anyone will give any advice from this particular thread, I just thought I'd bitch about it. Also I doubt anyones even got the game. atleast it was the free one.
