I hope I'm posting this in the right area - I searched and didn't find this topic, but if this is redundant, please let me know.

Besides the rather formidable design document created by Chris Taylor, is there anything out there that's more simplified, and segments the game creation tasks in some kind of chronological order?

Interesting, I've been wondering about AG design documents for a while too. I once found a game design doc, but it's geared more towards action games, or game with what they call "winning conditions". I guess it could be altered to fit AGs though.
I don't remember where I found it but if you're interested I could e-mail it to you or upload it.

I'm not quit sure what you mean when you say design documents though. Do you mean the kind that game designers pitch to publishing companies, or do you mean more like a to do list of everything that needs to be done for a game in general, broken down into story, artwork, scripting, sounds etc?
I wrote a sort of general To do list that might be useful if you meant the latter.

edit: here is the To Do List:

Sorry about that, I should have clarified - yes Ginny, I'm more interested in what most people think is the best way to tackle designing an AGS game, via chronological order/order of importance, etc. - in the form of a document. Since I'm not ever going to pitch the project commercially, those kinds of documents don't interest me.  Thanks for your link, I'll definately check it out.

Layaboogie - thanks, I'll check out rodekill's site again - I must've missed that part of it...

I wrote up a list of things to do in order to create an AGS game. Its foolproof...unless of course, you are previously a fool, inwhich case I take no responsibility.

- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Hey thanks, I'll try it anyway.  ;)

I can post a clean RF Design Document, if anyone is interested.
If that's of any help.. It's mixed from different sources.
Veteran, writer... with loads of unreleased games. Work in progress.

For future references, I'm planning on making an Adventure Game Orginizer program thingy..

I know Rodekill started on one.. But he hasn't updated it lately and I'd like to give the consumer more choices than one... Yea.. I probably sound totally conceited on that, but oh well..

So, if there was something specific you were looking for that I could implement as a feature in the program feel free to let me know :)

Gosh Gryph, I wish I could help you help me. ;) Right now, I'm such a neophyte that I wouldn't even recognize what might make a good topic/inclusion. All the advice/links above are excellent, and I'm merging them into one sort of thingy. If I come across something I think would be a good edition to what you're going to create, I'll certainly let you know.

Janner: by all means, post the RF doc link, or send it to me via e-mail (see profile). Would be much appreciated.

PS - this is an awesome forum, you guys are great. :)

Rode's Wurd Problems is a good program for organising ideas. Although i havnt gotten around to making  a game yet using it, i definately will (that is after my exams when i have 3 months break until uni). It would be cool if you made a similar program LGM. Its always good to have (un)healthy competition...
