I'd like to know what everyone's favorite top 5 AGS made games are. Here are mine:

1. 5 Days a Stranger
2. Maniac Mansion Deluxe
3. A Tale of Betrayal

I only listed 3 since I have only beaten those 3 and I'm still a new user here. Later on I will update my top 5 list as I play and complete the games I've been downloading.  ;D

Baron

....Wouldn't those also be your three bottom/most detested AGS-made games you've played? ::)

Fleshstalker

Well I don't detest them, they aren't bad. I would say 5DAS is pretty sweet. We'll see how it stacks up as I play many other games. AToB was an ok game, but way to short and some mouse click response problems. I don't see it lasting in my top 5 as I play more games. MMD was alright, but that won't last long on on my list as well.

Also I kinda made this topic for the sole reason of seeing which games people like in hopes of checking out a certain game which perhaps hasn't scored great. I'm still new to the Adventure point and click genre, so this should direct me (and the new users) to games I have yet to download.  ;D

Look at the completed games forum posts and see what people say about a game.

I'm relatively new to AGS games, but I've played enough of them to have favorites.
Not necessarily in order...

1. Kings Quest II VGA - I didn't play this until last week, and I was absolutely blown away. Amazing on all levels.
2. Ben Jordan 3 - The first AGS game that I enjoyed on a level comparable to the ones I remember as a kid.
3. Jessica Plunkenstein and the Düsseldorf Conspiracy - Sub par graphics wise, but more than made up for in story, humor, puzzels, and voice acting.
4. Trilby's Notes - the best of Yatzee's games, in my opinion. Creepy as hell.
5. Ben Jordan 5 - Lacked the creepiness of BJ 3 and 4 but better story and puzzles.

Other notable titles:
-Lost in the Nightmare - a little buggy and really simple to play, but I found myself wrapped up emotionally with the character, which is hard to do, in my opinion.
-Any of Yatzee's games, the other two Kings Quests, the other Ben Jordans

My favourate AGS game of them all is my own!

No really! I'm not saying it's the best, far from it, but I play it knowing I made it! That is such a joy to behold! Anyone else the same with their creations? The satisfaction of seeing all that hard work in it's completion.

Erenan

I don't know about my top five or anything like that, but five I would highly recommend are as follows:

Duty and Beyond
Automation
Reactor 09
Anna
TiLTOR
The Bunker

What would be nice to know as well is if there are any AGS games you have played more than once and the reason for this. I know when I buy a game and am forking over hard earned money I dont want to play it just the once, it would be interesting to know if many AGS games get played more than once.

For me the only two I have played more than once was 5 days a stranger, which I played to recap on the story before the latest in the series. The second being Larry Vales for it's unique humour and dialogue.

But as for my five favourite...

Perils of Poom
Just Another Point and Click Adventure (although it was not complete)
Larry Vales
5 Days a Stranger
Chick Chaser
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.

Ohhhh, interesting idea, magintz. :)

My 5 favorites would be:
Pleurghburg Dark Ages. It's a game that made me say "Wow!" upon completion and that completly blew my mind away with its soundtrack, length and plot. While I had just gotten into AGS, Pleurghburg convinced me to stay.

KQ2VGA+. Even if it's Pleurghburg that made me stay, I wouldn't be here if I hadn't played and loved that game back in 2002. It's the game that made me come here and download every AGS games ever released back in those days.

Adventures in the Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment. There are games which don't leave already established trails but you remember them because their story, graphics and atmosphere are awe inspiring. There are games which blow your mind away because they introduce something you haven't experienced in a game or an adventure game before. And finally there are games whose story, graphics and atmosphere are awe inspiring and that introduce something new. AitGoFW is that kind of game.

Cedric and the Revolution. It's cute, fun and hilarious, like joy in a bottle. It's also a game that greatly inspired me as D&D player and scribbler of drawings full of cliché, unserious, black or white, big or small characters.

The 5th one is hard to pick as it seems like the next dozen of games are all equal and could fit the 5th one. But I think Trilby's Notes stand in front of the others just enough to be the 5th one.

As for the games I replayed, if I exclude the games I replayed because of multiple endings or deluxe editions, the only AGS games I replayed were Pleurghburg, KQ1VGA and Cedric and the Revolution just for sheer fun, 5 Days a Stranger and 7 Days a Skeptic for story recap and also sheer fun.

Radiant

Okay, in no particular order,

Spooks, for the atmosphere.
Larry Vales, for the humor.
Snail Quest, just something everyone should play.
Cirque de Zale, for the overall design.
And META, because you can't say you know AGS until you've played it.

jetxl

I like that game where you click on stuff. Can't remember the name.

Tuomas

I'd go for

Hamster Island
Ben Jordan (the latest one)
Cedric and the Revolution
Stargate adventure (or what ever the name was)
Cirque de Zale

But notice one can only list from the few he/she has completed.

Da_Elf

i would have to say

ApprenticeII
Family treasure
ApprenticeI
Kings Quest2VGA
KnightSquire

Ghost

In no strict order...

Apprentice 1 - I like it even some better than A2, because it was more, hm, self-enclosed?

Ben Jordan 1 - Good pacing for such a short game, and some nice atmosphere.

KQ2 VGA remake - for the hell of a lesson that game thaught me.

Cirque de Zale - for bringing back that MI feeling.

A Cure For The Common Cold - for the most sensible puzzles in such a restricted number of rooms, plus a lot of really quirky punchlines.

I would have listed Nelly Cootalot here too, closely beating Ben Jordan, but I havn't beaten it yet. But it might well go to the judges...

@Fleshstalker : What is that avatary creature you have there !!??

I don't really know how to go about ranking a top 5 but there a plenty of games that I can suggest/recommend to you, fleshstalker. Prolly almost all of these have been mentioned but I'll try to throw in a few that I haven't seen listed yet:

1. All of the Ben Jordan games

2. The 3 King's Quest remakes

3. Pleurghburg

4. Spooks

5. 5 DAS, 7DAS, Trilby's Notes, 6DAS

6. Reactor 09

7. Duty and Beyond

8. Knightsquire

Now for a few that I didn't see on anyones lists:

1. Prodigal

2. Da New Guys (I'm dying to play the new one)

3. Emily Enough

4. Sydney Finds Employment

5. Secrets

If I think of any others I will edit this post..... Have fun playing and welcome to the AGS community, Fleshstalker.

Thewalrus

Goo, goo, ga, joob!!!

"Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come!"

Tarantula

Cirque De Zale - How can you not love this game :) Great writing with some of the best humor I've seen in an AGS game. I totally dig the circus theme too. Manages to capture that good old Monkey Island feeling. I hope to see more games from Kinoko.

King's Quest 2 VGA - Top quality in every way. Very enjoyable. Looking very much forward to Quest for Glory 2 VGA.

5 Days A Stranger & 7 Days A Skeptic - Awesome atmosphere and writing. Haven't played Yahtzee's other games yet, but I most definitely will.

Other games that I think are worth mentioning:

Chick Chaser
Quest for Glory 4 1/2
Robert Redford Saves the Day
Larry Vales
Apprentice

InCreator

My list goes as this:

1. Ben Jordan 5 (one of best AGS games ever)
2. Pleurghburg: Dark Ages (true classic and cool as hell)
3. Prodigal (still impressed!)
4. Framed! (awful graphics and total noobness blown away with superb atmosphere)
5. Henri: Don't Drink & Drive (yes, my *own* STILL unfinished game. But I get always so angry for this being not ready whenever I play a bit)

Actually, there's about 10 more games that could be in this list.

TheJBurger

My list (Long edition):

Pleurghburg - I think it was the second AGS game I played (the first being Pizza Quest :=), and I was totally blown away.

Permanent Daylight - Fun all around.

King's Quest (1,2,3) VGA - High quality.

Ben Jordan Games - Case # 3 in particular.

5DAS, 6DAS, 7DAS, but especially Trilby's Notes. - All awesome.

Adventures in the Galaxy of Fantabulous Wondernment - A great solid all-around game.

1213 (ep1,ep2,ep3) - Love the story.

Prodigal - Atmosphere and story in this game are both amazing.

Da New Guys! - It's awesome funny.

Tiltor - Probably one of the best puzzle games I've played, ever.

Automation - Superb graphics, animation, sound, music, and gameplay all come together.

Duty & Beyond - Great game.

Reactor 09 - A really solid, all around good game.

Apprentice 1, and 2 - The music, puzzles and animation are superb in these.

Its a cat. One freaky looking cat. I call it the alien cat.  ;D

magintz

Spooks and Cirque are also very good, I'd probably sway Cirque du Zale for JAPACA for the fact that it wasn't really a full game :P

Go play them all, just not the ones people have recommended.
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.
