Title: *updated 26th Febuary * Creamed!
Post by: Chicky on Wed 07/01/2004 21:18:09
hey guys,

this is my as of yet unamed work in progress game. Ive gone through many starts and stops of games but i really think this one is guna work.

you play dave (yup boring old dave) a hard working err worker at a eclair factory. Too keep yourself living under a roof you have been working night shifts at the factory.

now this doesnt seem to bad for Dave, he's happy with his life and he's been told he is a very good worker. But you see when your working all night you tend to get tiered, and when you get tiered you loose concentration. This being the main problem for Dave here.

*athem* to cut a long (intro sequence) story short he ends up leaving an eclair on the cream insertion tube fo way too long and it ends up with him blowing up the factory and becoming a wanted criminal ;D

*edit just for minime* well kinda newayz, you se the police department think it was an act of terrorism and are trying to find the ring leader, the more you ask about the 'incident' the more suspicion you raise. If this gets too high then its in the slammer for you boy, which you then have to escape from, and get a change of clothes.

does anybody think this is a too strong story to play as it is a large part of the game, i have a backup story whick could also work but im nto sure.

Soo,

The game features high colour 640/480 resoloution graphics

A (kinda) unique attention meter telling you how suspicious you look infront of the pigs

Loads of diolouge, full screen animation

and the satisfaction of playing it

I am not too far into the game yet but once ive got a reasonable amount done i may need some music writers.

oh, and here's some screenies for ya

The main character, Dave

This is the place he works, the eclair factory

And this is where he lives, in a fjord

well hope i get lots n lots'a response and become a well known community figure  ;D

thanx

Great looking pictures, and awesome story, except for the being criminal. When I read the intro story, I got sucked down the rabbit hole with my imagination, and I began to feel sorry for this hard worker. Maybe you can tell us more about the person in your game, like that we get to know him better. GREAT JEEAAAUURRBBB!!! (http://www.homestarrunner.com/cantsayjob.html)

The game does look promising, I just wanted to point out that the fjord looks a bit odd. Grass running all the way down to the water? Bridge? Usually ferries travelling back and forth every 20 minutes to an hour, or even just once a day depending on how many lives there, are used because a bridge would both be uneconomical and cause an uproar due to them looking pretty ugly.

Feel free to ignore me if you happen to live near a fjord such as this however.

looks outstanding dude! i kinda agree about the ferry. it might make more sense. the big ass bridge looks out of place in the rural area. ou could maybe add some cliffs or a beach in or something t make the waters edge more varied? would you mind if i did a paintover? just for fun?

I think the story sounds pretty good!

Would the suspicion thing be an in-game meter (a la Grrr! Bearly Sane)?

It's that bored expression you get when you're doing some amazingly repetitive job for hours. Kinda like "Geoffkhan working on the scripting for Apprentice 2". Whoops, you didn't read that, Big Brother.

Back to work!

wow, new posts  ;D lmao i thought this topic was dead, i kinda gave up on the game due to lack of interst in the storyline

well that leaves me with a big dilema (sp?) i now have two games in production, this one which is in 640/480 resalotion and another one which is set in medievil times which is 320/240 resalotion.

hmm, looks like im in a bit of a pickle. What should i do guys? 1 ive done the main character walking animations, 3 bg's and two other animations. And the other ive done main character walking animations and 1 bg.

i could work on both ... or leave one aside for a while, i dunno

you decide

thanks

ohh and zootyfruit, feel free to do a paintover, it would be really apreciated.

cheers

I think the storyline is very good! And the graphics are very well done too. You shouldn't give up on your game!

What I think you could do, (and these are the 2 cents of a guy who has yet to finish an AGS game :P) is that you could work on both games, just not of the same time. Ie, you work on one game for a while, and when you feel tired and/or fed up with it, you resume working with the other one, and this will be refreshing, in a way.

Just a suggestion, of course. ^_^

You should really come up with a title for this game: it looks great. How about:

"Eclair case of negligence" or better still...
"The Choux bomber"

That has to be the best pun ever! You see, there was this terrorist who said he had a bomb in his shoe... and shoe sounds like "choux" which is the type of pastry used for eclairs...

Oh never mind...

Your welcome mate.

That bit of encouragement always makes you...well...feel encouraged, lol.

So you have a tablet eh? I bet they're well handy for drawing. I might consider purchasing one myself. Knowing my luck though I'd end up with a box of paracetemols.

Your pal who never gets headaches, Daz.

OSC, I'm definagtley ,looking forward to this game. I love the graphic style, and the idea just sounds brilliant.

I read in the Critic's Lounge that you were unhappy with it, and might cancel the game. Well, if you are truly unhappy, go ahead. I'm sure the members of the forums, including myself, can manage.

But if you still want the game to continue, but don't feel you can make it by yourself, by all means, ask for help. I'm sure there's lots of people on the forums who could help with graphics and music and the such.
