Nice!

Erwin_Br

This post should belong in the critics lounge, but oh well...

I think you've done a really good job and there's only one thing I would change:

the sand/mud around the house on the right is too dark. If you lighten it's colour a bit the shapes of house and the fence should stand out better.

Fricking great!

But is this just a post about wanting opinions on art, or is it a promotion for the game?

Grim: "You're making me want to quit smoking... stop it!;)"
miguel: "I second Grim, stop this nonsense! I love my cigarettes!"

Gilbert

I think this thread fits more in the C&C forum, unless he gives more descriptive info about the game.

Aurora Noir

You're right.. Although i don't want to be accused of cross posting thats all..
For the moment it's opinions on the art..
I would like to remake the game, but over at tierra, they've suggested that i'd probably run into a big mess of issues with disney over their ownership of the black cauldron game..

Vel

Remake Gold Rush!!!!!111!!1

AGA

I *think* the game isn't copyrighted anymore or something. Al Lowe has the game for download for free on his site after all...

Aurora Noir

hey thanks for the advice!! if al lowe can distribute it then surely i can remake it :)

Lazy Dragonrose

Sierra doesn't have the rights any more... much much worse, DISNEY has them.

(Insert foreboding chord here.)

The rights to the story are quite nicely in Disney's back pocket.  Disney is not as nice a Sierra about people using their stuff. I don't think there'd be any problem with copying the art if you fiddle with it enough, but why don't you change the story a bit?  Be more true to the Lloyd Alexander books- IMHO they were a lot better than the Disney remake anyway.  Great art, by the way.

Aurora Noir

thanks :)
Al Lowe's site was very encouraging, and i think it'd also be nice to expand the story a bit..  rather than find food and water, take pig to hideaway, foil witches plan, rescue princess (or whatever) etc..
my only official statement at present, is that the game is not technically open for production, however i AM making backgrounds.. ;)

Flame

What kind of Imaging software do you use?
Give me the URL for a trail dl or something.

Aurora Noir

ive gotten myself used to photoshop.. but i used to love paint shop pro.. they're the two big ones that skinners use.. or Gimp, but aparently its got a real high learning curve (it is freeware) :)

Flame

Thanks. I got Photoshop and I did a little expirement.
If you get an image off the net, open it in Photoshop and use
dust and scratches once or twice, it makes the image look like comp gfx. Of course, Im a noob with Photoshop, so tell me if theres another way to do that. But thanks for the info.

Aurora Noir

umm i don't exactly understand.. what are you trying to do?

p.s: sorry everyone ive been a little lazy recently..  i don't think there will be a new screenshot this week.. hopefully next week  :-\
