Post by: Privateer Puddin' on Wed 05/10/2005 21:15:04

I am proud to present:

It's the 80s! Join the Miami Police Department in epic crime solving!

Can you help the handyman fix the gate?
Nonsense water cooler talk in all its glory!
Who are the mysterious men shown on the security camera?
Adventure on both land and under water ¬¬

Join Tony and the rest of the Miami Police Department in clearing Miami of a deadly new drug and bust the scum that are spreading it. Control two characters and use their different skills and personalities to your advantage.

I'm planning for the game to be short/medium length.. if that goes okay, i plan to do semi regular episodic sequels.

That looks rad!!

I can hear the Miami Vice theme playing.  Will the game feature techno-y 80's music?  Totally excellent.

The opening tune I made is 80's rock-ish but with a few synths in it.  If anyone is really interested (and custard doesn't mind) I will toss up a link to the finished version.

I had the honour of playing a short demo of the game (since cus' is a close personal friend of mine :D).
and it was real fun to play!
megacool 80's feel to the game, filled with neat graphics, awesome characters (for real!) and easy cool gameplay!
I haven't heard much of the story yet, but what I've played sure looks promising :D

keep this up and cus might have a classic!

Thanks for all the comments!

QuoteWill the game feature techno-y 80's music?

I aim to get a fair bit of 80's music in there.. first post has been updated with one tune.

The characters look great, and you have excellent animations...I can't wait to play the full version...please hurry  ;D

PS: I didn't like the main menu very much =P

I could understand people saying the puzzles suck, but the main menu? aw.

Credit again goes to ProgZmax for the characters and the animations :D

Work is full steam ahead on the full thing.. to quote 3D Realms,
QuoteWhen it's done.

edit: also, if anyone plays and completes it, could you post the rank you're given at the end? :P

Can't finish it..

Spoiler
I got the name from the mexican guy, but after that I don't know what to do, I have a gun in my inventory (I guess is a gun) but I can't use it (http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/840/clipboard020ji.jpg) with anything, I went back to the police station, but there is noone to talk to, except that girl.. ???
[close]

I think there's a bug with the inventory?..

Post by: Privateer Puddin' on Sat 05/11/2005 08:38:42
Hmmm, never had that problem with the inventory, using the locker should give you the three inventory items into seperate pockets (gun, badge and handcuffs)

here's what to do for your bit (i said the puzzles suck ;) )
Spoiler
As Ryan tell Tony the name. Switch to Tony and Ask ryan about the name.

I think I should restart and see if that happens again..

This game looks great, I really like how you're experimenting with different/unusual settings like the underwater thing and the security camera view.Ã,  I wish you luck in getting this game done.Ã,  My only other comment is that the "walk" cursor looks like you're trying to use a pair of pink pants on something.Ã,  Could be an interesting feature, that. ;)

Yeah, this was found first time around with the demo when it was released for Release Something. I've seen two computers play it side by side, one was fine, one had that error. Should be fixed for the final thing though

answering previous questions, been working on the idea since early summer, proper work started august i guess

Ooh, but I didn't like that when I looked at something, Tony only says 'there's nothing to look at' or something like that. Could be more interesting to see more talking.

But anyways I enjoyed it. The story is cool! (yeah, like a typical American movie, but still cool)

Post by: Privateer Puddin' on Tue 31/01/2006 18:46:46
Yeah, a lot of it was thrown together for Release Something, including the very generic responses in unhandled event, don't worry, this will also be.. fixed :)

Hi there!

This is great! Really great! I totally dig those graphics. The characters look absolutely fabulous (although in my eyes, the animations could be sped up a bit). The backgrounds are cool, too. What else is there to say? Can't wait for the full version.  :D

Dammit, I wish I could do characters like that ...

Thanks. In the last few weeks the graphics have got a fair bit prettier than the demo / some of the screens as we're refreshing most of the backgrounds. Working slowly but surely on it. Thanks for playing the demo and glad you enjoyed it.

Tony uses muscle and brains to get answers

Just another day at the office for our hero.

Game progress is coming along nicely.  Stay tuned!

Holy Carp this looks cool! In-game graphics remind me of the Beavis and Butthead adventure game (I think it's because the pallette for the chars is very simliar) but that's a GOOD thing!!!! And the convo looks DAMN friggin cool.

Keep it up this is AMAZING.

I suppose I can give an update on where we are for the impatient... :)

I'd say graphics are about 80% complete, though I'm still re-tooling a few backgrounds and have about 10-20 animations to get through.

Music is about 70% complete, I need to make about 4-5 more tunes yet.

Custard has the scripting at around 70%, with most of the action sequences scripted.  Yes, you heard right- ACTION SEQUENCES!

Design is about 85%, we've expanded it a great deal since the initial conception and I think it will show when people actually get to play it.

Sound is about 20% complete.  We'll worry about sound effects when everything else is working.

Just try and bear in mind we're just two dudes with lives and other things going, so I can't say exactly when it will be out- but I guarantee it WILL be out.  We've spent 8 hour days at times on the design and we're pretty damn sure you'll be pleased with the result.

Just another day at the county morgue!

Stee - do not do this again.  Read the forum rules and don't dig up old threads.

Since it has resurfaced ... any chance of an update guys?
