Story line:

Existence is an americas army inspired, point and click adventure.
For those of you that have played americas army, the storyline of existence picks up after the events of the popular aa map: SF Hospital.
You play existence as the rescued VIP who has been kidnapped once again. After spending 3 days in a jailcell without seeing a soul he decides to escape before he staves. Eventually our hero will be given a name, and uncover a story of governmental conspiracy and corruption and ultimately .. save the world..

Ive been using unreal editor to setup my scenes in 3d, then use screenshots to produce my backgrounds. In unreal editor i setup a camera_trigger and a agp_viewpoint actor. this way i can spawn and view 2 locations from the same spot, make the changes i need, reload the map and take the new ss. This is critical for getting objects and spites so they place against the background perfectly.

Beware my save fuction isnt working but you shouldnt need it. the first room is pretty easy as it is meant to introduce non-point and adventure game players to the gameplay. I intead to distribute this NON-COMMERCIALY!!! specificaly on aaotracker.com for americas army players to enjoy.

Not to sound too pedantic here, but it's actually spelled 'existence'.
Please review the Forum Rules (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=1987.0) and add the second "in-game" screenshot. (your last 2 screenshots are menu screens which don't count)

(I never did like the darkness in games like Doom 3. My eyes would be watering from straining to see what's in front of me!)
It's not so much the lack of brightness as the lack of contrast, I think.
okay i did color corrections to all the bg images, just need to redesign the splash page. didnt save a darn psd version and i miss spelled existence on it =0P.

Existence_Beta_0.0.3 has been released. There will not be another release until the game is finished ! Please look out for a possible release within a month to 2 months tops.

Well, it could just be a matter of contrast, and no problem with either the monitor settings or the game's brightness. Bear in mind that on a forum with bright background colours like this one, any dark images will appear very dark by comparison. But if you viewed them against a dark background (or fullscreen in the game itself) they'd look just fine.
Well, just a thought anyway.

Hopefully soon, in the next week or two. Things are taking a bit longer than planned, it seems every time I complete some artwork, there's a whole other bunch of stuff that needs doing. It's still on the way tho :)

Yup, brightness is okay! My one and only critiscm is that I have to randomly click on everything because there is no other way of finding hotpsots.
So if there is a way of escaping the room I only could do one thing before getting stuck, then clicking on everything in the room and then ran out of patience. Sorry!

as far as clicking around, thats sorta how maniac mansion is isnt it ? you bring your mouse around the room arbitrarily and select which function to use on what ..
it would be too easy if every item you could interact with show'd its name. plus.. you can basicaly interact with everything.
Just had a go at the new demo myself, coming along very nicely there! Yup, couldn't get out of the room either (as I need an object to shift the *thing* under the *other thing*), but so far it looks pretty slick. A few minor typos here and there, but hey, it's just a beta demo after all, so no worries.
Look forward to seeing more from you as the game develops.
You don't need to show the item's names. you just have your cursor animate or glow/change colour when it hovers over a hotspot. That's what I had in the game I was making (and put on hold).
I was stuck for the same reasons as Cheeba. And I sense they, like me, are usually pretty good at this adventuring lark.

Actually, I loaded up the new version and the game now has extra options. Before there was just the default mouse icons, and you could only talk, use and look. Now the cursor is better! (But I'd make a black outline around the words so you can see the cursor on bright parts of the screen)

It was the music. it was fine except the violin thing that kicked in when I went down the ladder. I thought the soundtrack had gone wrong to be honest. It was far louder than the rest of the music and you really need to lower the sound of it to blend it in with the rest of the music. I think it was a violin synth, I'm not sure, but it wasn't pleasing to the ears, to put it lightly.

I didn't understand the board on the window
I just played it, and I think it's pretty good. The menu, the instruction and the info screens were very well done and fit perfectly with the background music. Looks like Syriana, which for me it's a good thing. Good luck with this.
