Story
Somewhere in the near future, a cargo ship goes missing. The owner of the ship, Augustus Goldhandle, wants to find out what happened. Looks like a job for a private investigator, right?

Well, apparently something goes wrong, and soon just an ordinary guy, called Mike Night, finds himself looking for the lost cargo ship, in the tourist trap of Pearl Island. At first it looks like a piece of cake, but eventually Mike realises that it probably wasn't such a bright idea pretend being a private investigator.

Updates:
***25th of September - The post-Mittens update***
Holy crap, it's been a while. I had to redo the whole thread, as there was some old information in there. And I thought I'd update you with progress, as I need your opinions.

First of all, the project is going rather slow, for now. I've got other things to finish first. But I'll hope to have those things finished before the end of the year.

Second, Goldlagoon was shown and told at Mittens. I got good comments on it from various people and I've got some ideas. Now let's see...

At Mittens, I had a chat with m0ds, regarding Goldlagoon. I mentioned most of the graphics being finished for the first "part" of the game, and m0ds asked if I was going to release Goldlagoon in parts. Even if that wasn't my intention at first, it made me think. Lately, I've been thinking about releasing Goldlagoon in five or six short episodes. That way I could get stuff out instead of people having to wait for years to get to play the full game. And I want to get people to play this game some time, you know.

Another thing, voice acting. At first I was thinking of including full voice speech. But that would require hell lot of work, and many people would turn it off anyways. So instead, I'm thinking about including voice acting to the main cutscenes only. You see, I once made a small demo to show off at Brittens 2004, and I wanted to include voice acting. So the demo had voice acting, and there's especially one part that sounds about 100 times better with voice acting, than without it. So, cutscenes will have voice acting.

Righto, that should be all for now. I hope I didn't forget anything important, as I kind of rushed with this thing. Now people, tell me what you think. Especially, tell me what you think about releasing the game in episodes. Just, write something and make me happy.

Thankees
Chrille, loominous, Helm, custard, Al_Ninio, strazer, Geoffkhan, Mikko, Neole, Azure, m0ds, eVOLVE, Grundislav, Rui, Mr. Hyde, Vel. If I forgot someone and they know I did, slap me with a adorable kitten.

Goldlagoon?
You get Goldmund's seal of approval.
The last screenshot reminds me of Boss' office in Zak. We always get lousy bosses in adventure games. Designers trying to tell something?

Looks great!

Hyvä että suomalaiset tekevät myös AGS pelejä, itse en osaa niin hyvin AGSsää mutta piirtää kyllä paremmin. Toivottavasti saat hyvän pelin aikaiseksi.

EDIT: What program you use? Photoshop or paintshoppro?

Critic from the pictures.

In the street picture (with the text) the trees looks bit weird, kinda out of place.
And in the room where a man is sitting behind the table, the on of the buldings in the horizon looks kinda weird.

But I am waiting this game a lot. And I like that you have redrawn the hero char.  :)

That's really cool, azure :)

I updated the first post with new look of main character Mike Night, because the old one was too big compared to other characters. I'll update the screenshots with new character... soon, I hope.

Whoo, thanks guys and gals! I've been working with this one pretty much lately and I've been thinking about updating this thread soon when I get a couple more new screenies to show. Sorry that I haven't sent any lines for you to record yet, I have lots of dialog ready, but I haven't scripted it in the game yet.

Sully: I'm waiting :)

Hey, if you have some short lines, for some peeps in the game, I can do some of them.

How much sound effects are you going to use btw? Like opening door, footsteps, birds singing etc?
