Hmmm.... Since I'm Grim, I guess I should experiance this quest, right?;)

Construed

Indeed :D
Right now I'm still in the process of mapping, 48 down, 20 to go.
I have another friend ripping sprites so as soon as i get these pesky rooms completed I can start implementing more sprites, music and logic bring the game to life a little more.
Right now it just serves as a highly graphical IRC chatroom.

Hey grim I didn't forget you dude I just been having some net problems plus I got a school assignment to do.

I am a huge QFG fan :)

Is there going to be any original content, new characters, new quests or anything?  Or are you just going to be rehashing the old game with a chat interface?

Is it just going to be just the old sprites/music/backgrounds, or are you doing any original stuff?

Hi and thanks for stopping by.
At first we plan to use all original content from qfg.
Due to the extreme complexity of gfq, some areas may not be exactley as they were in the original but were making it as close as possible and over time we plan to perfect it exactley as qfg was.
for some reason the game being how it was originally intended is important to me.
However when it is complete we may extend some areas "such as the snow mountains and the water near the hermits cave" to lead to new areas that the users can play to continue their quest after the original is complete.

Interesting stuff so far; have you considered using the QFG1 VGA backgrounds instead of the old ones? It'd fit in better with the interface and cursors.

Yea, but i never really played that one too much cause the differences in the plot and story made it seem strange to me.Although I have been thinking of remaking it as a separate game.
Also i played the original so long, the images themselves spark my nostalgia. :)

PS. new male class character upgrades :D

Hey, it's your game. I just figured you might want to pick one style over another if you're going to cover the whole series.  ;)

What plot and story difference?  The EGA and VGA were the same...  Just different graphics.  I think everything else carried right over.

Yea, I was thinking after i posted your right.
I guess it was just the originality of the images that sparked my nostalgia.
For some reason it seemed strange to be in spielburg, but it didnt look the same.
Although i would probably better off using the vga for copyright issues.
Unfortunately i've come too far to change my mind now anyway.
I've got all the Hero's Quest maps imported :)

Atelier

Hey this looked pretty cool why the drama dude?

suicidal pencil

Not only was it cool, I was helping with the code :( Now I have no idea what's going on, since our main line of communication is the IRC channel and he hasn't been there since the drama (of which I still have no idea about) started.

Grim, what's up man? The code is in limbo, and I need to know whether you want me to keep going or you plan to do it yourself

Oh boy, the drama!  :D

The undisclosed location would be grimquest.tk I presume.

Naughty.  ;)

GRY kind of reminds me of myself when I was a young nooblet here. I made a lot of awkward, (and looking back on it, extremely funny) mistakes. The best piece of advice I can offer is not to work too much out of your means. If you're just starting out, it might pay off to do a few small games first before going after the big, soul-crushing, career-defining game. The process takes a lot of steam out of a person. It's exhausting, and it can make a game developer very bitter in the long run.

The best thing you can do is make lots of mistakes, and learn from them of course. The comedic gold is just the icing on the cake. So, here's to you, GRY. I wish you the best on your project, but keep in mind that finishing a game that's practically 4-5 games long is no simple task, no matter how many assets you already have.

Edit: Oh look, the first post has changed.
