Looks wonderful. Were you, by chance inspired by Silent Hill. It seems to have the same premise, which i don't mind, because i love Silent Hill.

Good Luck on the project.

LimpingFish

Looks very promising. And very atmospheric.

Good luck indeed. :)

Hey the progress looks good! Thanks for the update ;)
KPop and AGS....................that is my life.

The character Kate has a striking resemblance to one of my character drafts for a clock tower fangame, only older (NB: I said draft, which means I've already changed my character quite a bit)

Hehehe, great minds imagine alike! I think the graphics look great and would be really fun to play in the dark (bad for the eyes though) I can't wait to play it! >.<

Ubel

It looks so beautiful! I really want to play! o_o

Thanks for the feedback! No promises, but we should be able to have it out in the next few months ((I hope)). MarkPhantom is the writer/director, so I'll have to defer plot/inspiration questions to him!  It's a full length game.

These characters are still drafts, too. We might tweak them a bit still, but you get the general idea of what we're going for.

We use Blender (Make Human) for portions of the characters, especially the faces. The hair, I've been doing in Anim8tor. I did download some meshes from other sources (like Mr. Furniture), but we'll put all that in the credits/read me.  If anyone wants the links for the programs we've used, just holler and I'll pass them on. It's all freeware, most gpl.

MarkPhantom

Wow, so much new feedback :D

Silent Hill did have an influence, but only to an extent. I also wrote some stories a way back that gave me some atmosphere ideas. It's sort of a milieu of a lot of things; oddly, Arthur Miller's The Crucible also had an influence, but only in the sections set in the past. Also Alone in the Dark, Lovecraft novellas...I just wanted to create something that was scary but also kind of sad - in the despair sense.

CosmoQueen: Not sure what film you're thinking of. There will be sections where you can die, but I don't want your death to be a 'Oh, you walked over the cliff and you died. Dumbass!' kind of deaths, rather that if you do die, it's because you failed to act quickly enough.

It's nice to know we have so much positive support! :D The game's moving on nicely. I'm a bit demanding of myself, so I never rush the actual writing of it. Hopefully we should get this game out sometime soon, though I do intend for us to have a demo to show off first (not ready yet either, but hopefully soon we'll be able to sort it out :))

Please tell me the full game is gonna be free, please tell me the full game is gonna be free! *crossed fingers*

MarkPhantom

Yeah, it'll be free :) Though I want to distribute it as much as I can. I'm probably going to try and write to a couple of mags about it once we have something of true substance to show them...

Cool game! Have you made it in a 3d software?  ::)

MadReizka

Those characters looks like they are from Poser or something.
I do music and visual effects:

LimpingFish

I may be mistaken, but I belive they're from something called Makehuman.

Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II

When will it be ready? When are you going to finish it? When is your game due?

We're all still working on it. It's coming along well, so hopefully it will be out in the next few months. The backgrounds are almost complete (45 rooms at last count, just 2 more to go), and we're making good progress on characters.

We made the backgrounds and did the animations using Anim8tor. I also borrowed a few meshes from different free sources online, all will be credited in the read me.

The characters (especially the faces) are made with MakeHuman, yup, although I added the hair and clothes.

MarkPhantom

Time for the writer to do some work for a change! :D

Work continues apace. The art is mostly done (and trust me, it rocks!) and we're starting to nail together game mechanics, structure etc...I am writing the puzzle structure slowly if only because it's painfully easy to make mistakes. It is also a problem that my personal life likes to take revenge on my attempts to get this game written, but don't worry, I am not giving it up. None of us are :)

ADVERT: We need someone who can do large scale fire effects. The software the artists use is good for small-scale candle sized fire, but there is a scene in which I require a raging inferno - is there anybody who can create such an effect?

PM me if you can!

Oh, and an extra image for you to look at ;)

There would be more, but freewebs hates me right now...
