Overview:
Welcome to the inhospitable Northland, where trolls and wolves stalk the night, and where you are just one thin cloak away from turning into an icicle.
Rumor has it that Jotnar, the frost giants, are on the loose, and that Fenrir the Devourer stirs in his sleep. Gossip says that eldritch Svartalf magic runs wild, and that trade caravans disappear. People curse the incessant cold and eye each other warily, one hand on their trusty axe. And Northlanders are not known for their even temper.
What the land needs is a Heroine, and she had better arrive now. Are you up to the task, or will you die trying?

How beautiful :)
Very Kyrandia-like ! 8)
Yeah, really beautiful graphics, very well done.
Good luck with the programming. ;)
Looks gorgeous. Good luck!
The screenshots look great. I hope all the other aspects of the game will be as good. Good luck ;D
Looks very true to the original Quest for Glory. Does the different sex allow for any different skills than the male hero had?
looks great!
you've obviously spent a lot of time studying the original QFG (vga version).
can we expect to see any characters or creatures from QFG?
This looks really awesome keep up the very good work :D
Lovely! ;D.
Do I need to say more?? :P
Those backgrounds are amazing!! :D
And I like the character as well.. ;D
There will be a few similar monsters. Frost Giant, as seen in QFG1... I don't know if you've heard of a Lindworm. It's essentially a Nordic version of the Wyvern, minus wings. There's so many monsters from Nordic mythology to draw on.
Can't really think of any female specific skills. So far, it's essentially the same skills as the usual hero.
Thanks for all the comments! :)
*drools*
This looks amazing. The screenshots are beautiful. ;D
Quest For Glory is one of the favourite games. :D
There's not too many games that have a female hero, to kudos to you for that. :D
Oh wow-- I wish I didn't see this. Now I'm going to be clicking on your website every few days hoping this gets released in an unrealistic amount of time. xD
Wicked graphics. I especially like the forest and Town scenes. Hopefully it will end up in a really atmospheric, engrossing game. Which I'm sure it will. :)
All I have to say is, "WOW". This looks incredible. Keep it up!
I usually avoid this kind of post ... but this looks fantastic!
I'm really glad to know you're still in development with this.

Oh, Darth, it's good to see you loosen up your reigns a little ;)
Woah! What a surprise!!! I agree with Darth Mandarb. The screens are fantastic! I didn't believe you were working on this anymore. Hopefully, you'll be able to finish the game this year.
YES, I like it!
Hey thanks! I'll do my best to get this finished asap this time.
Oh, I forgot to mention trolls!

Trolls? Did somebody mention trolls? ;D
This just gets better! :)
Wonderfull! Marevelous!!, (And she's NOT like Sophia xD)
I hope the game will be original and not soo much quest for glory-kingquest too much inspired.
Luck with the game!
I remember playing the old demo for this. Glad to see you are working on it again. :D
BONK!!
ooof, that was me falling of my chair.. Oh my god, this looks really great... I'm really looking forward to playing this game.. BUT, don't rush it, just take your time to finish it, because it would be a shame if you rushed it after you've come so far...
This game looks simply amazing, and I look forward to its release!
Wow! The graphics look wonderful!! :D
Looks great - and you can never go wrong with trolls! This goes on my must-play list.
Oh, I love your game! Those screenshots look great! :) If you want to translate your game into Czech, I'll help you!
This looks very nicely drawed and it has that sort of atmosphere coming from the pics...it makes me nostalgic..
LOL. When I read the title, heroine made me think of something different.
This game is dope ;D
and definitely on my play list
Sometimes I don't know where do I take the courage to make critics when I suck at art xD, but I just wanted to point out that maybe the tree branches look like they've been hammered inside the trees rather than being part of it...(except the first 4 screenshots)
Otherwise I think it's amazing!!, much better than what I can do :-X.
I hope you finish the game asap!thanks!
Thanks again for the comments!
Ya, that last screenie does look a bit odd (trees). I'll be sure to fix that next polish time.
Hey! I believe you have something of mine...please return my scripter to me in the SAME condition you found him in! ;)
I kid, The game looks awesome. I LOVE the graphics!
i can't wait!
This game is going to be amazing! These backgrounds are unbelievable.
This really looks great!
I love the backgrounds and the main character.
P.S. Broken links to the music samples on your website.
Strange! I thought I remember that game!
Good to seeing this into developpment!
I really liked those fantasy backgrounds!! please tell me this won't be a comercial game!! ::)
Free!
Looks beautiful game
You've made some lovely, atmospheric backgrounds. Good luck finishing this.
I must say I'm dazzled by the work on the visuals you've done, and got warm fuzzies seeing the screen shot with the cloaked figure. :=
Making a game in the tradition of Quest for Glory is going to be a technically complicated task, especially for handling combat. What programming strategy did you have in mind?
great work , i need this game , great great graphic :D
QuoteLooks very true to the original Quest for Glory. Does the different sex allow for any different skills than the male hero had?
Im sure "nagging" will be a skill you can develop.
Very nice backgrounds...did you work for Sierra back in the day, or what? Awesome :)
Wow this game looks great! Did you do everything yourself?
New screenshot posted for fun.
Hmmm...
Never posted in this thread. Plus I've kinda stopped posting in the AGS forums, but this IS worth it! I've seen it before, but for some reason I didn't post.
Here's my post then offering my congrats for your effort so far and my amazement at the quality of your work! :) Looking forward to the release
Woo :o I love the new screenshot, very atmospheric.
And in latest news, the Heroine's Quest team has joined forces with Crystal Shard studios, known for several adventure games in the recent past.
http://crystalshard.net/hq.htm
I believe HQ is a very promising project that will become a worthy spiritual successor to the classic series. We're drawing from mythological sources to put together a highly atmospherical world, and a challenge worthy of any heroine. Primarily, the team now consists of Corby (art) and myself (scripting), although several other people are contributing with e.g. music and portrait art. There is still a lot of work to be done, so do not expect a swift release yet.
Oh my. :o I hadn't seen anything on this thread in awhile and yet, I'm in total awe once again. I canNOT wait to see more. The backgrounds are so, so beautiful. I know it's not done but...well done. ;)
This looks VERY promising and exciting! There aren't enough classic Sierra-style games with female main characters! I definitely look forward to checking this one out!
This is one of the games I cant wait to play...sigh, the good old sierra days...!

Hey, it's Brauggi Junior! ;D
Words cannot describe how much I am looking forward to this game! I just finished Quest for Yrolg and now I'm back in the questing mood! When the Heroine's Quest website was finally updated it literally made my day! Keep up the good work!
I look forward to this game, especially considering it brings back memories of QFG for me.. *nostalgic look*
More like Brauggi Senior!

I've been too much of a forum lurker to post in this topic until now, but I really like your old school style.

Wow, I guess Brauggi wasn't so much of a "giant" afterall ::)
That's probably why he was in Spielburg, all of the bigger giants kept picking on him
Alright, back on topic now.
Oh, this game really really really really looks GREAT.
I hope you'll finish it!
I also have a question about the game. Will it have 'dead ends'? Please, not... XD
Corby - let me know when you are ready to post an update and I'll unlock this.
Bombermans - please read the forum rules before digging up old[er] threads.
Thought I'd make a quick update. The first post has some new stuff! :)
Wow, all looks great with some excellent animations! And the heroine was so hungry she even ate the plate! ;)
btw Can you reveal what are you basing the animations on? For example the heroine's cape looks really film footage like.
Hmmm! Some animations have a lot of QFG in them like the warhammer swing. Maybe a bit of Kyrandia too for the nature stuff.
Awesome stuff. Really awesome.
Amazing animation, very impressed
Loved your The tale of two Kingdoms, one of the very best ags games ever! I hope this game is still in development, seems like a really great game!
and I would love to do the screens and animations for you in 3d if you want, let me know if you're interested :) (I'ved worked with two fan game teams before, the TSL, silver lining and mmgame's KQ4, did all the backgrounds there, well over a hundred screens)
contact me on;
sjokokroko@hotmail.com
Karens, that's some impressive artwork you've got there. We'll definitely be contacting you within one or two days.
This looks extremely beautiful and appealing! I really look forward to seeing more of this!
And, as a follower, and admirer, of Karens' work for MMG's remake of KQ4, for a few couple of years, I am very excited of the prospect of her joining forces with your formidable team!
I really loved A tale of Two Kingdoms, it was a true epic in graphics and storytelling! Best of luck with this masterpiece!
Second time for this thread...
Karens - please read the forum rules before digging up any more threads and post your work in the "offer your services" thread (it doesn't belong in here as those graphics have nothing to do with this particular game). If you specifically want to notify corby of your work please send via PM.
corby - once again, if/when you're ready to post an update let me know and I'll, once again, unlock this for you.
It would seem that Corby had updated this thread last month (first post) so I'm unlocking it...
yeah, I thought about adding it on the 'offer help' thread, but it felt more natural to put it here,
thanks,

det var lenge siden! :) går det bra med deg!?, skriv meg en email da og hør fra deg (vil vite kossen det går med deg der oppe i nord, og greier og greier,, koselig :-) hehe
Hi Karens, thanks for the offer! Great work on TSL! Do you have any specific examples that you'd like to share? Feel free to PM me, Radiant, and Corby if you like. Also, I'm curious, what applications do you use for modeling, rendering, wrapping, textures, etc.?
Please take all that discussion (examples, programs you use, etc) into PMs and leave this thread about this game.
Nice girl and game, I think! Good luck to authors. We'll waiting for demo.
Reminded me of Quest for Glory games, and by ye Gods I loved those! Awesome look and awesome animation, can't wait to see a playable build! Also, should you be looking for beta testers, colour me interested here and now.

Okay, we'll keep that in mind; this game will need a lot of testing. Ah, I see from your cred page that you've done that before; that's good.
As for testers: you can count me in too if needed.
Wow, I'm lovin that!
Totally diffrent than QFG yet still somewhat has the feel!
Great job!
These animations and screenshots are sooo awesome â€" I love the garden and the chosen colors and ... don't know what to say ... WOW!

Oh man... This is sooo gorgeous...
I really want to play this game 8)
You're doing good Corby. Appealing to a Kyrandia fan ;D
Wow.. these new shots look great Corby! So glad to see you, Radient and the gang are still at it! :)
I've been meaning to email you again as I've been doing some big upgrades to my QFG fan games page. I've updated the Heroine's quest page now too.
Also you may find my new Hero6 page interesting as I remember us chatting over email about finding an old Hero6 demo lost out there somewhere. Its not the the MAD engine forest demo we wanted but instead its a recent pre-alpa AGS version of the game (before it shut down) with MUCH more content.
I'm not much into playing as female characters but the graphics are very professional-looking!
I would also like to express my excitement for this game. A genuinely new QFG (like) game will be greatly valued.
You have great talent Corby, we coulda done with you much earlier on in the Hero6 project.
I'm not a big fan of the QfG style backgrounds, but I just wanted to pop by and say that this game is looking fantastic! I really think you've establish a very pleasing art style that is consistent in both character and quality throughout all your screenshots. The animations are simply wonderful! Keep up the good work :)
I would also like to say that amoungst all of the fabulous games being created right now, this one is probably my most anticipated one. I am a huge QFG (I still call it Hero Quest) fan!
Thanks everyone!
@Blake00: Great site as usual. Thanks again for the page!
@deltamatrix: Thanks! Unfortunate about Hero6 for sure. Wish I could've helped more.
A quick update:
Things are still moving along quite quickly. Fizzii (ATOTK, KQ3 Remake, SQ2 Remake) has joined the team and is helping with quite a bit of art work (see new Heroine portrait on first page).
For now, one last preview before the release: :)
This is first time I've seen this thread, Awesome art looks fantastic!
That last preview makes me think there would be an MC Escher room or something ;-D
So, the game is going to be released soon? ;-D This looks better and better...
WOW! Is it just me or is this screenshot literally oozing charm & atmosphere!
It has such a hypnotic quality, it gives you no choice but to stare at it with a faint smile on your face.
Perfection in itself!
Looks incredible so far. And that Elven shop is such a great location.
The elven shop is an awesome design!
Wow! It looks amazing. Can't wait for the release. Arts are so cool!
Awesome awesome image! This project is shaping up to be just as good as the previous masterpieces A Tale of Two Kingdoms and AGDIs remake of Quest for glory 2, and that means, about as good as it can get, in my book..!
So...I'm going to be a total arse and ask the question you hate most...when do you estimate "soon" release to be? Please don't shoot me, I'm just a huge fan that's been eagerly following the progression of this beautiful game and can't wait. (nod)
Sarah
Looking good, Corby! I am definitely one of the ones who is eagerly waiting for this one!
Bt
I can't find a flaw in that artwork. Good show.
Thanks again! :) The whole Dark Elf (Svartalf) realm is a topsy-turvey place. Glad the MC Escher influence was noticed, but it's not really any perspective illusions. His work was too hard to emulate.
QuoteSo...I'm going to be a total arse and ask the question you hate most...when do you estimate "soon" release to be?
Oops, did I say soon? Well, I can sort of make an estimate. I expect the art/animations to be done around the end of the year, then there's the rest of the coding, followed by testing. So... 2013 sometime? :) Maybe Radiant has a different idea since he's released a large game in the past.
QuoteSo, the game is going to be released soon?
Sorry, bad wording. I meant to say that I'm trying not to release any more screenshots, as in, to not spoil the game until it's done. My bad!

I'm sorry, citizen, that information is not available at your security clearance :)
Seriously though, no, we're not going to give you a deadline. We're making excellent progress though, and it's fair to say that most of the game is done. We're still looking into the possibility of a voice pack (which would be a serious time investment) and we'll probably be looking for beta testers at some point. Stay tuned for that :)
(we're not auditioning for voice actors now; however, if you have done voice editing or voice pack organization before, feel free to contact us. Also, if you're interested in beta testing and you either have samples of prior work, or a convincing motivation beyond "hey I'd like to", feel free to post in this thread or PM, but we likely won't get back to you for some time).
So when are we looking at release? or at least beta? Give us something please!!!!!
Sorry, we can't give specific dates right now. As the old adage goes, It's Done When It's Done.
Well ok folks, its Done when its Done. This i get. Some new info would be appreciated tho Radiant.
These graphics are simply adorable!! I love the finish touch as you are giving. I wish I knew to do these pixelated graphics ... I'm a lover of them, and for my taste, I give you a 10!

If you decide to do a voice pack I would make it as a separate download, or at least make it possible to download the game without the speech pack as they can really inflate file size.

Voted in your poll... :) IMHO, the game already appears that it will have plenty of pure unadultrated beauty and excitement without the need for speaking parts. I like when there is a character voice pack SOMETIMES in a game, but really only when it is done
flawlessly and the characters' voices are VERY accurately depicted (which is kinda subjective, I know) from their personalities (both things being very difficult to do). To be completely honest, I think most people are so eagerly anticipating the release of this game, and have been for so long, that the lack of a voice pack will not really affect the overall satisfaction. Everyone will just be so grateful to be able to finally play it!
That being said of course, releasing a "Heroine's Quest v. 1.1" later on in the future with said voice pack is also another route you could take. Ultimately though, I think everyone is pretty much going to tell you that this game is YOUR baby and therefore you have to do what feels right to YOU. No matter what you decide, people will stand behind your decision (do we have a choice? Ha. ;)) and be excited no matter when the game is ready for release. So, in the meantime, keep up the FANTASTIC work. :)
Cheers,
Sarah Rupert

Also, we are looking for voice actors! If you're interested or know anyone who would be interested in helping out, please look at this thread here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=47711) and send me an audition for any of the characters you're interested in.
This game is looking fantastic! From what I can tell, the battle system looks like a lot of fun, similar to QfG2.
Excellent work! I am eagerly looking forward to the release.
This bad boy (or girl if you will) has been on the top of my list for some time and has repositioned itself with that trailer. WOWEE!!
Thought I'd let you guys know that I posted your trailer in the Quest for More Glory Facebook group and QFG's Lori Cole herself posted this comment: "This really does look like it could be fun. They did a great job at re-creating the old Quest for Glory" :)
Awesome! Happy to hear that :D
Really, it's cool idea - female Glory :) Authors are super :)
After just over a month, we have made some decisions on our voice cast :)
We ended up with 118 different people auditioning for our project, or 77 male and 41 female voice actors.
Over three weeks of auditions, we had a big surge of interest at the start, and another surge of auditions towards the end.
On average, an actor auditioned for 5.1 characters, giving us a total of 606 separate character auditions to listen to. It was very tough making the casting decisions and some great actors did end up missing out, but we really appreciate each and everyone's interest and time regardless, including those from these forums who took part :)
Haven't posted a good update in awhile.
Fizzii has made a lovely poster for the game here:
Some progress I can report on somewhat accurately:
Art is at 95% and the voice pack at 80%. Currently, we're finishing up the last chapter.
And, just for fun, a sample from the combat system:
Lots of giants in the game. :) This one is of the dumb/strong type.
That is a lovely, lovely poster, Corby. Wouldn't look out of place on a high fantasy novel's jacket. Really smells of adventure; can't wait! Can't wait!
I really think the game deserves a better poster (no it's not very good), because the in-game graphics is so beautiful. That's my sincere opinion, no offense!
This is getting better and better. I really can't wait.
Great poster, and wonderful animation!
Thanks for sharing! Can't wait!
Awww - what a beautiful poster!
Those graphics and animations are really cool and you all are doing a very good job! (http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/userpics/12962/thump_up.gif)
This project is getting more impressive and exciting by the minute! Beautiful poster artwork, great animation work and now I learn that the extraordinary talented team has been bolstered by Karens, to provide 3D cutscenes! This project may even top AGDI's magnificent remake of Quest for Glory 2! I am really looking forward to see more of this..!

this is the game i am perhaps most excited about in the history of ags - i cant wait to re-live that quest for glory style gameplay in a new and fresh way. great stuff
Yup, exactly Shaun :)
As I said... if these previews are any indication, this will DEFINITELY be one of the most downloaded homebrew adventures! Especially among QfG fans.
I know this will do well with adventure gamers everywhere. So my personal hope is that there'll be a sequel. I may have said it earlier in the thread, but it bears saying again--this should be a series! It'd be a shocking shame if it doesn't.
It looks fantastic! Great job! :)
Dear all,
Heroine's Quest: The Herald Of Ragnarok is nearing its completion, and so we are looking for a few Beta Testers. They'll get access to our current mostly-stable and almost-fully-playable build, and are asked to comment on playability and puzzle design, as well as find bugs, graphics glitches, and assorted miscellaneous issues. But this is not just a free preview of the game; please be prepared to spend time clicking on lots of details and testing out object interactions. There are some in-game debugging tools available, of course.
If interested, please drop me a PM with your motivation, as well as your previous experience with testing video games. Thanks!
From what I've seen in previews and other things so far, I just KNOW this'll be a smash hit!
I said it before, I'll say it again--it'd be a shame if this doesn't get a sequel... or even become a series.

But this is not just a free preview of the game; please be prepared to spend time clicking on lots of details and testing out object interactions. There are some in-game debugging tools available, of course.
Ok, we've got three people now so we'll start with that. If anybody else wants to volunteer, give us a call!
Hey everyone, we did a short preview showcasing some of the game's voice acting. Enjoy!

Sounds good! Great music as well.
You guys found some pretty decent voice actors!
Seeing and hearing it all in action just makes me want the game more. Good work!
Excellent! And lovely use of In the Hall of the Mountain King.
This game is really coming together! ;) Good job, Radiant et. al.
After finally getting around to playing ATOTK I seriously cannot wait to play this. It's going to be awe-to-the-some.
This look's really awesome!
Just a small detail in the trailer: in the scene where the Heroine's watching smoke rise, the smoke rising upwards gives the impression that there's no wind, while her hair and cape flutters like there is wind. Just looked a little strange. Sorry to be picking on small details, but the game looks so great that I just had to!
Thanks for the comments everyone. :) Testing is going well, and the final art is nearly complete.

Ahh! There's a huge thicket of trees blocking the smokey area, but the red-headed character is in an open area.... :X
So the most frequently asked question is, is this game freeware? The answer is that yes, it is. We design our games as a hobby in our spare time, and make money from our day jobs; we believe these games should be free for everybody's enjoyment, and our reward comes from the fan reactions we'll (hopefully) be getting.
The second most common question is, why don't we do a kickstarter? The answer is that we started this game years ago and we're now finishing up, so there's no need to 'start' anything. There's little point in raising KS money if we don't really have anything to spend it on.
That said, people who wish to support us are welcome to make a donation using the paypal button on our site, http://crystalshard.net/hq.htm - or, of course, to share this thread or our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/HeroinesQuest) with all their friends, blogs, message boards, or anyone else who might be interested in it.
Any updates? How is the beta test going. I'm crawling the walls waiting for this to release  I know I know it's done when its done but AToTK completely captured that retro Sierra quests series for me so been looking forward to this adventure more than any other adventure game the last few years. Plan to donate to your site as well upon release. I know it's free but I feel I paid for crap games plenty of times so I doesn't bother me at all to make a donation :cheesy:
Edit* actually talk is cheap, just donated lol. But I couldn't change the amount from $6???? I'm on ipad so maybe that's why. Wanted to donate $15 so ill just donate again when released.
Thank you for your enthousiasm! Yes, it's going well, and no, we're still not going to specify an exact date, sorry! We do plan on having a little pre-release contest for fans though, we'll keep you posted!
Woo hoo!!

Awesome glad it's going well. Look forward to the contest if it doesn't involve drawing lol. Have great pictures in my head but has never translated to paper.
Join the Heroine's Quest box contest, and win a cameo in the game!
(1) Download the box art for the game from http://crystalshard.net/dls/hq_boxart.zip
(2) Print one of the box art images, and use it to make a DVD case, CD case, or actual game box for HQ.
(3) Take a picture of it in suitable surroundings. What is fitting is up to you; you could find a snowy landscape to place it in, or cosplay as a troll holding the case, or create some fan art and place the case to the side, or anything else you can think of. Be creative!
(4) Post the picture in this thread. If you have Facebook, please put it in our FB group as well, and link to it from your own Facebook timeline or wall.
The deadline is October 16th (23:59 GMT). After that, the Crystal Shard team will act as judges to determine the three best entries. The three winners will get a cameo in the game: describe what your character should look like and we will place it in Heroine's Quest. One cameo is alive and well, one is imprisoned, and the last one is dead (because hey, the game is about Ragnarok). The cameos are not hidden; a player is likely to come across them in a normal playthrough.
The first price gets first pick and an animated cameo; the other two are static. Your character must be suitable to the environment, so e.g. robots or ninjas are not an option; and note that this is
a cameo, not a moving or speaking role. By submitting a picture, you give us permission to use it as promotional material on e.g. our website; we'll include your name if we use it. Crystal Shard retains full rights to the game, including the sprites used for the cameo.

Stuart Wright sent us this pic, which I hope is inspiring to other participants!
amazing picture!
Should we understand this as "Heroine's Quest will top them all!"? :)
This game looks really cool. The Quest for Glory series is probably my favourite series of all time.
Three days to go! Do something creative and win a cameo in Heroine's Quest!
This game is just unbelievably beautiful, I can't wait to play!
Looks so awesome guys!
I posted a link to your Meet the team article at indiedb (http://www.indiedb.com/games/heroines-quest/news/heroines-quest-find-out-more-about-the-game-and-meet-the-team/#4220783) on the Quest For More Glory facebook group and once again it attracted the attention of the Cole's. :) Corey viewed it and Lori posted "I love the look of the main character - she rocks!"
Thanks for posting the link Blake :)
There are a couple more updates on our IndieDB page:

About Monsters, Combat and Interfaces: http://www.indiedb.com/games/heroines-quest/news/heroines-quest-monsters-combat-and-interfaces
About the game's development and how it all began: http://www.indiedb.com/games/heroines-quest/news/the-making-of-heroines-quest-the-herald-of-ragnarok
This just looks more impressive every time I see it. 8-)
Will there be an option to let the computer handle the combat for those of us with slow reflexes? (If you want you could also give a slight XP bonus to players who choose to do the fights manually)
QuoteWill there be an option to let the computer handle the combat for those of us with slow reflexes? (If you want you could also give a slight XP bonus to players who choose to do the fights manually)
There is a difficulty slider with a very easy setting (and currently, it is super easy) for those who don't like combat elements and wish to experience more of the adventure elements :) You won't need fast reflexes at all, and the game is still enjoyable!
What an honor to receive the attention of the Coles!
And a well deserved one too, This game is certainly a finely polished gem!!!
So I see a release date of December 30th! Is that true? I also have a question, will this be like AToTK with multiple endings or is that too much of a spoiler to say before release?
We haven't announced an official release date yet, but definitely aiming for some time this month. We are getting really close, so hopefully we'll have an official date worked out soon.
Oh wow, these are exciting news!

Indeed. Can't wait to try this.
Ah ok, I just saw on your indiedb page that it said coming December 30th so got hopeful. Anyways take your time as it will ultimately lead to a better product.
We'll make sure we make an official announcement on Facebook, IndieDB, here etc when we have a date :)
This is beautiful. I really enjoyed A Tale of Two Kingdoms and Quest for Glory is still one of my favorite adventure game series. I think if anyone can pull this off, you guys can.
I just watched the voice acting preview and the voices are pretty good, but the animations were totally out of sink with the voices, which broke immersion for me pretty bad. Will this be fixed in the finished product? I hate nitpicking about this since everything else about this looks so great.

Been fixed for quite a bit now. :)
Some fun previews until the release:

Not much longer now. :)

We're getting a white christmas this year... :D
Nice! In the game, or in your region?
We haven't had a white Christmas in our region in like 5 years, however we will in our game :D
Merry Christmas to you Corby, Fizzii and the rest of the crew!
Nice animation Corby! Gotta love that pixel perfection, a few little pixels do a whole lot!
Not an easy task, as I've learned recently!
So how many years have you guys been working on this thus far?
PS. I would love to get a few of you and Fizzii's pixel art tutorials, although Fizzi's tutorial site seems to be down :(
Merry Christmas to you as well! :)
We're currently testing like crazy and Radiant is fixing those extra bugs coming in like mad.
The game started late 2009. So it'll be just over four years since Corby initiated the project.
QuotePS. I would love to get a few of you and Fizzii's pixel art tutorials, although Fizzi's tutorial site seems to be down :(
I didn't think anyone really looked at my old website! I actually need to sort out a new host first, and I was going to do more new tutorials with better techniques as I wasn't happy with some of those tutorials (since as usual, I've improved over time).
Ah, I see.
Heroine's quest is going to be super bad ass then cause you guys got a decent sized team and I saw the AGD remakes which were quite splendid with a smaller team took about the same amount of time.
Yea, I've studied qfg style art for a few years now and there's not many references or even people who understand what it consists of, So between you,Corb, my good friend Toendra and a very small handful of others you were among the top traditional style artists I've ever seen :D
Please let me know if you do get a new site up, I pretty much lurk these forums constantly!
I'm so ridiculously excited about this game. I can't wait to see it!
Good luck with the last bits of the process. I hope those bugs don't cause too much trouble.
Crystal Shard announces Heroine's Quest Christmas release!

Wow! What an awesome Christmas present to the community!
You guys have worked very hard on this game and spent a great deal of time on it.
You are true hero's!
I'm going to be downloading it Christmas day!
Merry Christmas and god bless you all!
This is the biggest, most high-profile RPG ever made with AGS isn't it?
I'm really really excited :-D

I dunno - probably on a par with AGDI's QFG2 remake, but in a sense this is even better because it's original!
Congrats to all on the team - this is a mammoth project and looks awesome.

An incredible work!
Awesome!
I'm waiting for the release ... tomorrow!!!!!
I followed the development of your game since the beginning. I'm really looking forward to the release tomorrow. To be honest, I can't remember awaiting a game's release with so much excitement. It's like a wonderful christmas present for me. Thank you very much for all your effort and passion to finish your game! I wish you all the best and Merry Christmas to all readers of this thread. :)
Considering the winter setting, it's only appropriate that it be released that day. :-D
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you!
Best christmas present I could hope for. Thank you so much. :cheesy:
Great stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to slope away from the Christmas proceedings for a spell and check it out :-)
Ohhh oh ho, merry Christmas to ME! This is the best gift I could have ever asked for!
Wow. This totally made my day, heck, my week, year, etc. Thanks to all of you for all your dedication & hard work making this game, I know it's going to be a huge hit.
Sarah
Awesome ill donate to your site again
And done, wish would let you donate more than $6 but I've done it twice. Thanks for all the work!!!
I am so very happy! Not only for me, because I get to play this awesome game, but for Crystal Shard and all of the hard work they put in to make this a reality. You guys are truly amazing. I am beyond excited to have the chance to finally download this!
To have this wonderful game released for free is truly an exceptional feat. While the earlier RPG remakes have all been good, they have been retellings of stories I knew well. I am looking forward to immersing myself in a new world on par with the best of the Quests for the first time in far too many years.
Thanks, everyone!

Yay! Congrats on that release!
OH MY GAWWWWD, I know what I'm doing Christmas evening.
Just finished the final game run. :)
Upload upload UPLOAD!!!!!
Hopefully we could have a walkthrough somewhere. I'm reluctant to play through intense adventures without some idea of where to go.
My philosophy of games like this is "Know before you go."

Hahah. Wow. This is so foreign to me! I just mean my approach to games is the complete opposite - it's about discovery, jumping in blind and finding my way out! So different!
Anyway, I'm sure in time someone will do a walkthrough for ya.
Bt
Thanks for the release! This is truly a happy holiday! :-D
That was three minutes before midnight, but still on christmas day as promised. But all you Americans and Canadians with your funky different time zones can still enjoy it after the big dinners :)
Thank you for the release and congratulations!!!!
