ok. i reckon you should spend more time on your graphics and dont use the spray paint thing from MS Paint (i hate that thing) but your story's quite intriguing, keep going but improve graphics.

I love the style of your graphics (this is NOT being sarcastic, if you stick to this style it will be a very unique experience). I have two questions though:

1) That thing to the left of the couch looks like a hammer. If so, is it an inventory item? It seems rather large, but that's one way to avoid pixel hunting.

2) How does Tom get through doors wearing that hat? Perhaps an animation of him taking it off for room transitions would be in place.

That is actually a pickaxe and its that big because i didn't want that item hard to find as its not really a puzzle (You use it to open the kitchen door). I hadn't thought about the hat being a bit big for the doors mabye i will do an animation of him taking off the hat or mabye make it a bit smaller.

Thanks for all your feed back about the graphics i am looking into some other graphic types (mainly ripping) if someone gives me a reason why the graphics are bad then i might look into it but for know i am sticking with it.

If you want advice on the graphics post in the CL ... however, if you aren't planning on using these graphics than these aren't the screenshots that'll be in the game and hence, this thread will be locked.

I have to disagree with Hammerite too. Please, do not change the style of those graphics. They probably won't get very good ratings from anyone, but at least they're made by you! And they do look quite cute. :)

I would suggest you not to use the MS paint default palette for your colors though. The RPG colors just hurt my eyes. If you'd just modify the colors to be a bit softer, then the graphics would be nice.

I'm sorry, I know this isn't the Critics Lounge, but I'm sure nobody minds if I do this little paintover, just to show you what I mean with the color usage: http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7398/scrnshot3paintover2hs.png

I somewhat like the story/idea of this one and it seems like it's going to be quite a long game too. All in all your game sounds very nice! Good luck with it!

When are you thinking of releasing this by the way?

I'll say go for it using these graphics.

Though it's true that better graphics might attract more people to download and try your game, it's not really necessary, especially when it's your first games (ripped graphics are not prefered in general).

Better graphics also means you may need to spend more time to develop your games (and I DON'T mean people shouldn't spend time in making good games!), which may be an obstacle for people even completing their first games.

As long as the graphics are functional I'll say it's okay. Also, remember that there used to be many commercial games whose graphics didn't even reach this level (cf. Mystery House) but of course that's history...

Edit: again, someone beated me while I was typing, I'll post anyway.

Good luck :) I suggest you not to change the graphic style; it looks cute this way. Just maybe you should use a photoshop program, so you could set the colors and give texture effects.

This might sound harse but all these freaking n00bs making games dont give a crap about the games they make.

Graphics takes awhile and geez I mean we already have one world of chaos game I for one might only be able to stomach one...

It takes a few tuts in one weekend you can draw perspective hands down understand the fundamentals no matter what age you are and you will draw way better!

Regardless Goodluck on your adventure your story sounds interesting just a little adjustment on your progress..

Backgrounds... : 10%
Characters...    : 5%

Aaah! My eyes... No critics but please, PLEASE, drop the textures! Even though, something looks better with textures, it dont mean you should change all the colours with textures :P And why on earth (just to not swear) are the microsoft hq made of fabrics?
