Title: Johnny's Odyssey
Post by: Johnny Odd on Mon 03/05/2004 21:27:56
I only downloaded ags about three weeks ago - I haven't done anything like this before... Basicaly, I was wondering if people could check out afew screenshots and say what they think of stuff like graphics and stuff.
Ã,  Ã, I'm a bit technologically challenged - but you should be able to click  here (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/back_street.GIF) for one screenshot and  here  (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/screenshot.GIF) for the other.. let me know what you think.
Ã,  Ã, The game's getting pretty big now - about 20 rooms - but I posted this as a kind of quality control - there's no point expanding further if it doesn't look good enough to make. If my links didn't work I'll fix em in a sec.,,,
Ã,  Cheers

Hmmm... I didn't realise they'd be that small. Any ideas on how to make em bigger? I'm not too good at this stuff

Like this:

Gives this:

Looks like that first image has been a jpg before it became a gif...

Yeah. Sorry. Looks pretty screwy - but they're both done on MSPaint - so they're not gonna look great anyway

I think both screenshots look great! If the graphics are consistent with eachother, I would continue it.

If you made 20 rooms already, I would definetly finish it, or atleast make a game out of what ever I have if I got tired of it. But looks great.

Continue it. If you finish a game, no matter how bad it is, people will take you more seriously for future projects.

Cool. Thanks a lot. That's really encouraged me - but I'm kind of already thinking of a new game!  :-\

I'm interested in making an indiana jones game - I love fate of atlantis and I'm the BIGGEST fan of the films - would anyone be interested in the idea?

..You can never have too many fan games :)

The graphics are nice. What about the plot? Whats the game about?

I think those graphics are brilliant for MSPaint... :) Well done, keep it up.

The plot for 'Johnny's Odyssey' (the above screenshots) is as follows - in the intro you, Johnny Odd, (yes I took my user name from my own character) wake up in a small wooden dingy boat-type thing in the middle of the ocean. You think you had some crazy party but can't remember it. The 'part one' of the game that I have made is a flashback of yesterday. I have kinda got some ideas of what has happened and how you end up in the pacific in a boat - but very vague.
Ã,  Ã, I made this indy sprite - but don't like it too much - should I leave that idea if it's already being done? Probably - maybe after Johnny's Odyssey... who knows

Well...this isnt exactly the critics forum....ok, it isn't at all...but I have two suggestions:

1)  LOWER INDY'S PANTS!

2)  LOWER INDY'S PANTS!!

The front view seems to be the only one with somewhat correct pants.

Other n that, I like 'em a lot.  Great Work,  I'm looking forward to these games!  I do think you should complete 'Johnny's Odyssey' first.  After you do, you will be considered an AGS verteran, and you can move on over to any game your little heart (or big heart) desires.

Just my 3 1/2 cents
