Not bad. Not bad

Good luck to you.

Though I don't remember a open desert in KQ4. Could someone refresh my memory?

I think the desert is a test screen to show the icons at the top, but I could be wrong.

Looks interesting...
Do you have two in-game screenshots to show? I see a menu screen, a test screen, an animation, and a background.

Sweet lord I loved this game. I don't know how much of a commitment I can make to your game, but I'd love to do some composing... or are you looking to re-create the original MIDI sountrack?

Here's how obsessed I am with this game: the first link is to a performance of Rosella's Organ Solo I did a few years ago. That's right... an organ AND computer geek. It's an electric organ, but you still get the impression.

This is a demo of some of my work. I use Reason to do most of my work. Not the hottest program out there for this kind of stuff, but I enjoy using it.

Nice screens! The animation is a bit dodgy though, could end up being distracting as it's such a huge contrast against the brilliantly drawn backgrounds.

Screenshots look great you seem to have managed to recapture the great atmosphere created with them in the first game.
With KQ4 I associate the awful puzzle inside the whale of trying to climb up.
Have you considered as to whether you will keep this the same or add some variety?
As a suggestion to reach the uvula? ( I think this is correct but forgive me if I am wrong), how about there being objects inside the whale that you can pick up and then stack on top of each other to create a climbable tower. If objects are stacked incorrectly the tower could become unstable and collapse.  This would still posess the trial and error aspect of the original puzzle and the time limit aspect could also be implemented giving a very similar concept to the original puzzle.  But at the same time eliminating the seemingly randomness of the hidden climbing path.
I hope this helps and I look forward to playing the remake.

Sir Bob, this game looks AMAZING. I've just finished playing the KQ2 and KQ3 remakes (by AGD Interactive and Infamous Adventures, respectively), and I am hungry for MORE!! This game looks good so I know I won't be disappointed.

I must admit, though, I never played KQ4 for more than 5 minutes. Maybe it was because I was a kid and a female lead in an adventure game like KQ didn't appeal to me. But now it sure does. I am definitely playing this one when it comes out.

Does King Graham make an appearance at all in KQ4? If so, I would highly suggest getting Josh Mandel to reprise his KQ5/KQ6 role of Graham, as he did for AGD and IA for their respective remakes. I doubt they paid him...he doesnt have any other acting credits besides the King's Quest series (originals and remakes) so it might be a feasible possibility. After hearing the authentic voice of Graham in KQ2 and KQ3, I simply must hear him again in KQ4!

If he's not even in the original KQ4...add him in! J/K you don't have to do that. But good looking project nonetheless. ;D Keep up the awesome work! And let us know when there's a playable demo!

I believe he is, only in the intro and maybe the end. Only because he is sick.  I think it might've been a heart attack. But he isn't a playable character again. That'd be fun if there was a twist to the remake and he had more of an appearance.

And you're right, it would be jolly to have Josh Mandel back for Graham's voice.

The tower/vent on top of the house looks a little phallic. Sorry, but it does. You may want to take another look/try with that area of the shot, in my opinion.

Well wow! When I was looking at all those new screenshots, I was really impressed! And the site now looks better. A bit like the infamous one. More importantly it seems that you've managed to keep improving your art skills. Still I don't know how this game will compare visually to KQ1-3 remakes, but it looks like KQ4 now gets its own original art style, which is enough different. And it's charming. I like.

Thank you for your patience.

Also, we are getting along quite nicely and progression is being very smooth.

Never noticed this project. Glad to see it being remade. Make sure to find voice actors for this project. I'd say Roberta Williams would've been a perfect voice for Princes Rosella. One problem I have with this project so far is the fact that the backgrounds don't look dark/scary enough. What I felt when first playing the fourth game was that it had a really dark story and a lot of locations revolved around dark environments. I really don't see that at all in the graphics, but I guess I have to wait since those backgrounds take place away from the truly creepy environments. I guess waiting will have to be my game for now.

Best of luck to the project.

Right now we have halted the production of voice acting all together. We feel that we were getting ahead of ourselves when we started asking. Auditions will definitely open again, in due time.

I just wanted to say congratulations on your work on this project so far and thank you a ton for volunteering however much free time all of you are dedicating to this project. I for one love all these remakes and dont mind the waiting because if you follow suit with other remakes, and I'm sure you will, the wait is always so worth the final product.
I really hope that all these fan remakes reach the ears of VU or any of the game developers to show that the old school adventure game genre is still alive. I really wouldnt even mind they started production a few more adv games that kept the same feel as the ones from the 80s and 90s. How cares about graphics when you can have hand painted backgrounds. Thanks again in advance for your time and efforts as I'm sure your project will be as kick ass as the ones before you.

I do however have a question for you. Will the 1:1 remake launch at the same time as your enhanced twist on the game? I cannot wait to you play your 1.5 version if its anything along the lines of AGD Interactive's Kings Quest 2 1.5 remake.

We will first release the 1:1 remake, then a "plus" version. We are currently working on the standard version, and will be releasing a demo of it in a few months (but hopefully not too long  ;)).

Apologies for the long wait, there are not many people on the team as it is, and other 'real life' issues seem to be slowing progress drastically.

If anyone out there has experience as a sprite artist and can make Sierra style sprites, we would be grateful if you dropped by our forums, thank you.

In the mean time, we have made a short promo, that has been posted on YouTube:

I grew up playing each Kings Quest game with my mother. (we didn't like 7 at all though..) We restarted the series , and we are now on four. I can't wait to show her all the new "re-made" Kings Quests! (Four was her favorite)

I agree with you. Although KQ VII was enjoyable I much preferred the old more D&Dish KQ games. The puzzles in VII were way to easy. The Cartoony graphics were more suited to Torrin's Passage that they made with the same engine later. And even though KQ VI had some cartoon comedy most of the game was an adult fairy tale.
