Dr. Oswald’s School for the Disturbed

Jeremy Rayno was brought to Dr. Oswald’s School for the Disturbed, a mental institution for minors, when he was nine years old, and has spent most of his childhood being taught by strict, almost cruel teachers, and enduring the pain of his warped visions and dreams. Jeremy is now fifteen, and plans to escape from the school, and with his incredible, if somewhat twisted, mind, that may be possible.
You guide Jeremy through the asylum on his psychotic quest, as well as through his constant bizarre nightmares, in which he explores the haunting secrets of his out-of-control emotions.

When he’s awake: Conquer his warped, and sometimes grotesque, delusions, to gain access to more of the building. There are, however, also obstacles in reality as well as inside Jeremy’s head. These include struggling with the confusing buttons and switches throughout the school, researching the school’s secrets and Dr. Oswald’s confusing past  in the library (or taking a break and reading some of the dark short tales that are found on the shelves), and analyzing and navigating the complicated minds of the building’s many interactive characters, to progress through the game.

When he’s asleep: Explore the strange, empty, abstract world of Jeremy’s subconscious mind, full of destruction, and the ghost of a once busy and cheerful empire shadowing over it. During your travels across the sad, lonely place, with two unsettling children as your guides, Jeremy will come to terms with his unhappy early childhood, and experience dark flashbacks on his journey.

The game will feature an original home-recorded soundtrack of background music, containing instrumental guitar and keyboard pieces composed by the Mary Fan Club. Sadly, there isn’t enough for you to sample just yet, but I’ll do my best to get something up soon.

Of course, anyone who would like to help with the artwork, animation, story, music, scripting, or even just a suggestion, is more than welcome, and would be deeply appreciated. And, naturally, constructive criticism is invited, as this is our first (“real”) game and we realize it will be far from perfect.

No release date is yet scheduled, but I’ll continue to update when I feel enough has been done to let you know about it. Thanks everyone!

Did you ever play Sanctuary? Recommended. Really cool "inside the psyche" type adventure game, that.
