Development Diary:
UPDATE 20/10/2007
==============
Well after talking to Fransisco Gonzalez, well known as Grundislav and well known for Ben Jordan games, I'm glad to announce that this game will be actually the very first that will feature Ben Jordan as NPC with its author approval on it. The Ben Jordan Easter Egg will be very easy to find since I'm not gonna hide it. And it took me a 200$ fee to get Ben Jordan. No, just kidding.  I've added as easter eggs/cameo appearances the following Purple Tentacle Mini, Manny Calavera's Scythe, King Graham's Hat, and the diamond from Curse of Monkey Island. That's all for now.

UPDATE 3/11/2007:
------------------------
Well, Haddas has accepted my offer for voice acting Dave Dell and his first sample impressed me..
Here it is:
http://www.esnips.com/doc/890d359f-33c5-49e3-9d26-097d0fbe37a7/DaveDell

And another sample
http://www.esnips.com/doc/60fe93dd-34c4-4737-bac3-8425b41d84a9/Dave-Dell2

He is also gonna compose some music for the game as well...
I'll post something when it's ready. But for the rest of you that know Haddas you know what he's aiming for..

Also we're having Natasha Miren(N.M.Music)
on board. She'll be the voice actor for Dr.Scobie and
will help us with the music as well.

sample is here:
http://www.esnips.com/doc/d3fd65ed-7186-45e7-879b-f30fc2bdc435/DrScobie

More info on Haddas and Natasha Miren here:

UPDATE 9/11/2007
-----------------------
I've been working a lot.
Anyway I've made
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q53/JustLedZep/HostelRecep.png
screenshot of which I'm proud of..

And for those that didn't get it the interactive hint system will be something similar to goblins
you can press space and then click on an icon if you want to see what you should do...it will be a spoiler. Whole solution will be given.. you think i should change the system to just give hints?

UPDATE 17/11/2007
---------------------------
Visy Ben Jordan Sample...
http://www.lobortis.com/n/2893229373

Well, Vertigoaddict has expressed interest on the game and he is gonna voice act as well...

Here's a sample.

UPDATE 27/11/2007
-------------------------

Well, I'm actually informing that due to my great efforts on art and scripting the last five days(not that the rest of the crew is sleeping or something) we've managed to reach the finale... We're very close to the end now... In order to stop wrong posts, I'm saying that the main game will be ready very soon. However we need music, voice acting, beta-testing, dialog fixes, proof reading, the usual stuff. But it's a good thing.. also not to forget for the bonus content I've came up with the idea of putting a mini game. The mini game will be like Duck Hunt.

UPDATE 30/11/2007
--------------------------

Well, Pierre HOPQUIN has completed making the lines for two roles on the game.. and he was so fast I didn;t got the time to announce him ;D
Anyway few roles to go...

UPDATE 3/12/2007
------------------------
Jeremy Kline has completed voice acting as well. One more on board..

UPDATE 22/12/2007
-------------------------
I've sacrificed myself. I voice acted a medium sized role... And thank god it doesn't sound much like me..

That's AWESOME! Unlike the first two games, the graphics look wonderful. The only idea I dislike is the first side view. By the way, does Palm Springs play any role in this game? And what's about references to classics (the usual stuff ;))?

I haven't quite decided of it's gonna be First Person View. I really like third person view adventure games a lot. Anyway, don't get discouraged it's not yet final. About Palm Springs, I don't know since I'm not the one's who'll be writing the story. But don't worry I'll supervise the whole deal. About references still not a clue. The demo should remind a little bit of Demolition Man(Silvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes, Dennis Rodman). I find most encouraging that you liked the graphics. I just read some tutorials and through observation and experimenting a lot they reached that level. Anyway I'll be bringing more in the meantime you guys could put in your suggestions and what you want to see, or what you don't want to see.

Title: Re: Lone Case 3: Showdown - DEMO AVAILABLE and TEASER

Are these "in-game" playable screenshots?

If these aren't the final versions of the graphics either this is gonna be locked until you have more work done and can show, as the rules require, proper "in-game" screenshots.

I still haven't played LC1 yet... maybe I'll wait until 2 and 3 are both out and play the trilogy.
Title: Re: Lone Case 3: Showdown - DEMO AVAILABLE and TEASER
Post by: Dualnames on Sat 08/09/2007 21:45:03
Those are in-game screenshots. The first one is the menu image. I just haven't decided if the game's gonna be first or third person. I got so misunderstood here. And I don't know if it's gonna be the last Lone Case you'll see.

Stevetheblack has kind of accepted to write the story. So I don't have the full thing yet. It's under production. If I was writing the story this would be the last part but I'm not.

P. S. Could you answer to my PM?
Title: Re: Lone Case 3: Showdown - UPDATE CHECK LAST POST
Post by: Dualnames on Wed 12/09/2007 23:27:50
---------UPDATE-------
1)Control Method from Sierra early 90's advanced to CMI style. Using and taking a lot of pain fixing and beta-testing Scumm GUI V2 by Electroshocker. Thanks to someone, for urging me to go to SCUMM interface. So this means that all of the Lone Case games have different control methods. That's something..

2)Changed due to reasons of better graphic experience the game's resolution to 640x480. From 320x240. So that's one thing in common with Lone Case 2 and 3.

3) I haven't decided whether to change the color depth and advance to 32bit. I'd like a second opinion to that.

4)Unfortunately the past 4 days I haven't work on the art. And before the story is fully written I'm not planning to. Maybe I'll just re-create the characters from Lone Case one in case they are needed.
I'll be back with more.....

Unless you're going to use alpha'd sprites, don't bother.  You won't gain much (if anything,) and those who still only have 16 or 24 bit video cards will hate you.

That said I haven't played any of your Lone Case games yet.  Maybe tonight...

That Dave Dell looks nice, but, as I suppose, you should update the Sho-Ryu-Ken corp.'s website by adding Lone Case 2 and 3 (Sorry for the offtop).
Title: Re: Lone Case 3: Showdown - DAVE DELL GETS REBORN See New Sprites

Well, I've been doing some GUI's, and I've come up with the idea to make a bonus content GUI that will be accesible to the player once he's finished the game. The bonus content will be artwork pre work sketches etc. And while doing that I've come up with SlideShow module.

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=32575.msg421019#msg421019

If you have any ideas about what you'd like to see as bonus content PM me or post it here.

I'm still alive and working on those lines. It's a tough job. I only found the time to start on it today. But I've already done some 45+ lines. Won't be many more days until I'll be ready with those. They will be a couple megs though. We're not talking about 200 lines here.
Title: Re: LC3: Showdown - Few Roles Remaining
Post by: Dualnames on Thu 06/12/2007 11:29:25
The game size without speech vox is 3.4(rar) and with speech vox reaches 6.2mb.
Regarding that in the speech a big part of N.M.Music(Dr Scobie) lines are missing and Vertiggoaddict role is missing two kinda big dialogs and receptionist hasn't been voice acted and not a single line of Dave Dell lies in that speech vox.. We're missing
35+40+42+500=700 lines of speech remaining. Which if luckily each file was 10kb that adds a well.. 7mb.. Reaching to a 10mb speech vox file. Imagine the music...
I forgot to say that this game instead of featuring some stupid idea of mine for that Grim Fandango easter egg will feature Manny Calavera himself. (I'm voice acting)

Just saying: I've been caught up in a lot of projects (including paid ones), real life stuff and various problems. Rest assured that it WILL get done. In a little while.

I just have to say, it's been a pleasure working with Dualnames,

While I was so busy with other stuff and strangling myself over the fact that I couldn't get any voice acting done quick enough, he'd repeatedly said that I shouldn't worry about it (of course I'm too much of a dramatic to take note, I kept on apologizing, he probably got a little annoyed...heheheh, sorry).

I'm playing LC 1, first few minutes in, I was drawn to the game.

Good luck on LC3!

UPDATE
2/1/2008
------------
Happy New Year for starters..
Lately, I've been checking things out changing GUI's and all that boring technical stuff.
Anyway, I have to say that this game will be 32 bit instead of 16 bit since all backgrounds look better in 32 bit mode.. In the meantime, I'm running a competition. Check the adventure related chat..

Oh god, does this demo have the voice acting in it? I listen to my old work and I cringe sometimes. At least it shows that I've gotten better...

Mind reading some insider information?

Spoiler

He'll be an easter egg. In fact you'd need to pixelhunt like no tomorrow to see him.

i'm informing that beta-testing phase is finished so we're entering proofreading phase. In the meantime, I recall that the demo has no speech vox with it. Or music vox.

FSi had no trouble finding Manny, but that's just FSi. Not to mention that he found a million bugs as well.

Merlin thanks for the interest. I suggest you play Lc1 with a walkthrough since ok the story is good but some puzzles are rather illogical. Lc2 is considered easy and I made all the puzzles logical..

Post by: Dualnames on Mon 03/03/2008 13:10:34
We're on the final stages... what I need is someone to do a couple of songs. Natasha Miren made the theme and that's about what I needed..Haddas ended up really busy and he's not replying in messages I've been sending him,for about one month. He has declared that he was working on some other projects so ok that was a little bit of expected.

Wow VA, you are really going for voice acting aren't you? Great to be so ambitious but don't take too much hay on your fork  ;)

Doing Dave's voice s actually really fun! I finally get to use my southern American accent. (although it's slightly obscured by the husky rough voice that goes with it).

116 lines out, 316 more to go! ^_^
