Dude, this looks pretty fleshed out already -- with a simple, but really nice style. Where do you find the time -- not to mention energy?
Aha! This caught my eye at AdventureX, we were stood watching it on one of the screens but I shortly forgot the name :-D
Lovely style with a great choice of colours. Story gives me a Monkey Island vibe too, love it! The backgrounds are really consistent, do you draw them yourself or have an artist on board?
I also tryed it a little bit in AdventureX.
I found it soo nice, funny, playable, and sooooooo old school :D
great work guys!
Thanks for the nice comments guys :)
Fitz: The time is born out of doing games in lunch break at work... and a few late nights... and the energy is born out of general boredom/despair/passion :) Also, I'm just doing the programming on this one.
Chicky: Glad it caught your eye at AdventureX! So many AGS people there, we should have all had name badges! This game is being written and drawn by my good friend John, who is part of Cloak and Dagger Games. I'm just doing the programming on this one, so it's his brainchild. Hopefully drag him onto the forum one day.
AprilSkies: Was a real pleasure to meet you at AdventureX! Glad you liked it :)
With Mudlarks I did the story (with my wife), programming and other bits and pieces, John did the graphics. A Date in the Park was pretty much a solo game for me, and with this one I'm just doing the programming. I'm currently writing out two more games, at least one of which will come out as Legend of Hand is getting made. I really have caught the AGS bug...
Here's another screen in progress from The Legend of Hand, this is a still from the intro.

An adventure game with RPG elements? Well, you have my attention, Sir. ;) Good luck with the project!
Very nice stuff and was interesting to see you taking this direction for this game at AdventureX. Lots of nice detail, I found it surprisingly immersive. Looking forward to more, and thanks for bringing it to the event :)
As a big fan of your games I am looking forward to more news on this one with great anticipation!
Oh, so it's almost like a martial-arts version of Quest for Glory.
Let's see how this game turns out--looks great so far.
Gah I forgot to post on this one!
The Legend of Hand looks very, very cool indeed. 8-)
Hi guys!
Thanks for the really nice comments, it means a lot :)
Mods: Thanks for having us at AdventureX, it was such a cool experience! Glad you enjoyed the game :)
We've been beavering away as much as possible on the game, things are back into full swing! Working on the second island of the game now. Here's a frame from a sprite animation John was working on today, and a new screenshot!
I also wrote a blog update on our website if anyone wants to have a gander. You can read it here! (http://cadgames.weebly.com/blog)
Hey Shaun, I really love the look of this game. Hope it keeps the cinematic feel with the close ups.
Thanks Gurok! Trying to put in as many close ups as we can :)
Here's a pic from the transition sequence between islands

Looks wonderful! I'm hoping you'll include a karate-based fishing mini-game where you do flying kicks into the water to flush out the fish, then jump onto the raft and leg sweep them into the cooking pot.
Awesome screenshot :-D really loving the style of this! The gray scale character and the choice of background colors (nod)
Hey guys,
Just a wee heads up, we'll be showing Legend of Hand at Adventure X in London this Saturday - and a demo should be out next week :)
For those who played it last year there is quite a bit of new content, but mostly just a more polished and refined version of what we had then. Progress has been a little slow, but we've got some good momentum now! Hoping to have it all done by this time next year - too many other games to make!!
Hope to see some of you good folk on Saturday!
Shaun
Hey guys!
We will be putting out a demo for Legend of Hand in a couple of weeks, if any of you would like to help us test it please let us know! Any help would be super appreciated. The demo is probably around one hour of gameplay.
Thanks!
Shaun
I've updated the info at the top of this page to reflect where the game is at now! :) Demo and Steam Greenlight now live!
Cool. This is going to be awesome.
I love the last screenshot!
Voted! Keep up the good work and good luck with the Greenlight. :)
I don't think this'll take long :-D Good luck buddy :)
Thanks for the nice comments guys, much appreciated :) The Greenlight has been a little slow to start but feedback has been really positive!
Looking good Shaun! Hope development goes well.
Thanks for the post on Indiegamenews Dave!! :)
This is looking like fun. Good luck with development.
Update: Just played the demo... it is fun!
Spoiler
Just to let you know... at the end of the demo, I clicked on the characters to vote on steam greenlight and got stuck in the demo. It did go to the steam page but I had to CNTRL-ALT-DEL to task manager to exit the demo.
Hi Two Tales!
Thanks for playing, glad you liked it :)
Spoiler
I think this is a problem with AGS in general, alt-tabbing and switching to the desktop can be problematic... not sure of a way around it :(
This is Awesome! 8-) you have my vote!
Thanks oareaso! :)
Progress has been going along nicely on the game. The Steam Greenlight campaign has stalled somewhat completely, but we've had lots of nice comments and feedback from the demo. I've tweaked quite a few things, including speeding up the walk cycle of the main character (which in hindsight was ridiculously slow!!). Finally invested in decent video capture software so will be also aiming to improved the rather jittery and underdone trailer we put up as well, it doesn't show off the game as well as it could :O
We've now completely finished the second segment of the game, which is the longest section of the whole game. So it's downhill from here :) Two more islands to go, then I'll be rehauling the turn-based fighting system to make it a bit more dynamic and interesting.
Thanks for your support everyone! I'll post some gifs and updated screenshots tonight too.
Glad to see progress :-D
i can't wait to see the new gifs and screenies. This is one of those games that keep a memory when played at a young age.
Thanks Anas :)
Here's a couple of screens from the second island in the game.

Of all the new stuff, I especially like the gif with the otter. :D He looks so cute, trotting just like that!
Great stuff, Shaun. :) Keep'em coming!
I just played the demo and enjoyed it! At first, I was a bit sceptic because of the rather sloppy graphic style but you soon get used to it. With the stats screens and pop-ups for tasks/inventory it has a very professional look and feel. The game has a very dynamic feel with characters moving around and rain coming and going.
Cat accidentally bumped this thread so Shaun9991 if you want to post an update please do so promptly!
Otherwise I'll lock it up until you are ready to post the update!
Hi guys!
I've updated the original post - Legend of Hand is finally going to be released next week! While the date is not confirmed entirely, it will definitely be out before the end of September.
Thanks for your support!! :)
Shaun
Woo-hoo!!!!
Grats to you and Jon for completing this epic adventure!
Nice one. All the best with the release.
Woohoo! Saw in your twitter! Nice release Shaun!
Interesting graphical style, in a good way.
This game looks really interesting. I love the unique style and story. Looking forward to it!
Looking forward to it! Congrats. 8-)
Thanks all! :)
Can't believe it's almost time! We've been working on and off on it for 3 and a half years!
Does Steam know the game is coming? Might wanna put up a store page and forum.
Hey! Yeah everything is set up on Steam, just finalising the description before setting the page public
Wow! Already next week? I remember playing the demo last year, but haven't really heard much else about it since then and now it suddenly sneaks up, you should be more agressive with your marketing :) Good luck with the release, I'm definitely going to pick this up at some point.
I am probably going to pick this up on itch.io and I don't buy games that often.
I love kung fu movies though, and I think you've knocked this out of the park.
Thanks Gurok and Hobo for the nice comments :)
The Steam page is now live and the game will be released on September 28th! You can check out the Steam page here! (http://store.steampowered.com/app/595560/Legend_of_Hand/)
Congrats mate ;-D
Been waiting for this moment (laugh)
This thread has been very quiet all year. Until this month I was starting to wonder if it had been abandoned. Good news!
Thanks guys! Going to release it in an hour or so! INTENSE NERVOUSNESS!! :)
