Post by: KristjanMan on Fri 07/04/2006 15:35:09
I need music for my game

Hey I'm KristjanMan and I'm making a game, a 1st person adventure game

Story: You are a drunkkard and you wake up in a strange room... (Yes it's the story. I know it is short but still)

The name of the game is not final it might change
here are screens:

and the demo:

Right now i have
story: 100%
puzzles: 80%
music: 0%
speech: 0%
graphs: 10%

So what do you think I know the art isn't the best but still what do you think

EDIT: Some more information there will be two versions of full game one with voices and videos second with videos only but no sound

Here is the new screenshot:

Maybe I'm just stupid, but it took me about a minute to figure out how to start the game on the title screen. As there was no mouse cursor I started pressin all sorts of keys and I was about to give up already, so I moved the mouse to close the window and voila -  the menu bar appeared. Anyway, I suggest doing something about. Maybe having the Use cursor selected by default etc. I also managed to make the cursor dissapear once again in the game.

Other than that it could be a nice game. You have a real nice retro feel going on there. And I'm always glad to see Estonian games, so good luck on finishing it.

I've played your demo, and, too, was confused about how to get the game started. The game plays nicely, but look out, that it doesn't get far-fetched. I mean: A shovel behind a loose brick, with which you dig for the key's door under a loose plank, CAN be explainable, but it doesn't have to. Make a concept first and then apply the puzzles to it, not vica versa.

Other than that, it works well. The avi file is kind of unneccesary, though.

Thanks for response should i maybe make an animated backarond instead the avi?

Well I agree the puzzles (in the first room) are bit confusing but others that i have make sense ( I hope)

EDIT: Oh I forgot has anyone spotted any bugs besides the cursor one?

Since it's only text, an avi, though only 1,1 MBs in space, pumps up the overall size unneccesarily. As for myself, I make a seperate room, in which I let objects fade in and out, but making an animated background or simply one room for each logo (or whatever) would also work. Keep in mind, that there are people out there with a 56k modem, and they might want to play your game, too, but can't, because it's size is too big due to avis.
