Like how the game looks, from what i can tell, but there's only one screenshot but due to rules, main men screenshot's don't count. So you neeed to post two screenshots.

Alllright...

First of all, congratulations on starting your first AGS project without it being a fan sequel to Monkey Island, and welcome to the forums. The story doesn't sound too mind-blowingly innovative, but it's a solid start, and depending on the "predicament" he finds himself in, it might just do. Same is true for the theme tune and the player character: Nothing outstanding, but solid.

Now, the backgrounds... eh. Are those real in-game screenshots, with varying resolutions and everything? It's fine to give rooms different "sizes" by surrounding them with black, but you shouldn't go over the top with that (scrnshot2.png is fine, scrnshot-1.png is not, unless you want stuff to appear in the huge black area later on). Also, that wallpaper in the second screenshot... do not, I repeat, DO NOT use solid black lines like that. It hurts the eyes. (Coming to think of it, you might want to remove the vertical lines on the wallpaper entirely). And did you draw that background in a smaller resolution and resized it in Paint? If yes... don't. I made that mistake, too, and it's just... no. Don't. Coming to think of it... was that first screenshot bigger originally and you resized it to make it smaller? What resolution IS your game running at, anyway?

That's it for now. I hope that helped, and you're not too discouraged now.  ;)

Thanks for the help, I'm running the game at 320x 200x, and it has to be in a windowed form because some error comes up if its full screen.  Oh yeah and yeah I am a little confused on this resolution thing, because it was not supposed too become so small, (the second screen shot).  and the first screenshot was not any bigger then when I first created  it, I think my parameters are messed up.

Yeah, that happens with lcd monitors....the 320x200 resolution is just out of range for them, apparently.
But you can still use it. Just start winsetup.exe and set the resolution at 640x400.
Essentially the pixels are just doubled. It looks the same (except for the scaling maybe), but works. ;)

If you really want to use stripes on the wallpaper use a slightly darker colour instead of black bars. Really, it's hard to look at it. And try to fill the whole screen with the scene. Or center it at least, but don't let it look like you just drew it too small. It would be irritating if the scenes would constantly change the filled size of the screen.
Yeah, I just repeated what Akatosh said and it's not Critic's Lounge here, but I think it's important...

I think you could certainly use the lines on the walls if you wanted, but absolutely, change the color. If it was me, I'd use a slightly darker color than the wallpaper. You know, just enough where you can still see the lines... but, BAH, don't use black in that manner!

:)

Good luck on finishing this game!
