I've decided to take a bit of a break from working on David Smith: Private Investigator (but I still am working on it now and then), and to start working on:

THE CRATER

The game's storyline:

You play as John Tobias, an archaeological expert, christian, and now astronaut. You have been sent, along with two other men, to investigate an asteroid which has had reports of life on it. Little do you, or any of your crew know, that there is far more in store than mere life...

Here are some screenshots:

STATUS REPORT:

Sprites and characters: 12%
Animations: 5%
Backgrounds: 2%
Storyline: 75%
Music/Sound: 0%

FEATURES:
*High quality backgrounds!
*LucasArts style characters!
*High-resolution of 640 by 480!
*A cast of voice actors!
*Orchestrated music (if we can get it)!

If you want to voice act or do music, PM me.
I am doing this game all by myself so it could take quite some time to make. I hope to get more screenshots up soon.

Are they really high-resolution of 640 by 480?

Steel Drummer

Yes. However, some of them are higher res than that (if I need camera movement or whatever). What do you think of the graphics?

They are good, but they are not better than some of the games in "In production" section. Check my favorites.

Hammerite

is this serious or humourous?
btw, since that the character guy being an archaeological expert and an astronaut seems important to the storyline, is him being a christian important?
personally these are ok graphics, they look simplistic in a way that is good like radiohead's amnesiac album art.
i used to be indeceisive but now im not so sure!

No offense, but the graphics look too cartoonish to be a serious game.

For the LOVE OF GOD!!

This is not the Critics Lounge ... if you want feedback on the graphics, post them in the CL.

Hammerite and yodaman ... I have deleted over 20 posts from you two (in other threads in the GiP) in recent days.  Do NOT turn this into one liners back and forth.  Take it into PMs.

Yodaman11111:
So you don't only plan to mix high-res and low-res, but use "high-res" backgrounds that are made of resized low-res ones, too? omg.

Btw: high-res doesn't mean that the room's a scrolling room. That's two entirely different things.

Steel Drummer

What are you talking about?? If you want to make a scrolling background, you need to make it wider. Anyways, I probably won't work on this game anymore since I have mostly gotten negative feedback.

God...

I think yoda have been getting way too little attention, and therefore he asks everyone "subtle" questions wether his graphics are good or bad, etc.
Why do you ask if we want you to make it, when you already put it in GiP and have plans for completing it?
Hammerite: There is a reason that they made the critic lounge. So people can move the discussion you are having here over there, so you stop clogging these threads.

To not get too off-topic: The game looks interresting. Original enough storyline and okay graphics. Keep up the work and finish your second game ;) :)

Darth Mandarb

I tell you NOT to do that ... and yet you do it anyway.  Simply amazing.
