Meet Master Bill Fredrick Snuttings, former head of all things magical at Castle Gumbold. Yeah, that's right, FORMER head. Cause after a simple spell intended to light some damp logs goes horribly wrong, Bill finds himself without a job. Yeah, it would seem that magic is no longer required in Castle Gumbold!
In the game you control Bill, and attempt to help him reclaim a direction in life.

Just tidied up this post as it was getting a little messy!
P.S - Note the colour loss in conversion from BMP to JPG, hope to have the images in PNG format soon!
Sounds interesting ...
A bit Harry Potter-ish, but that's okay. I dig Harry Potter.
Will there be different "directions" in life for him to choose from dependent on how you play the game out? That would be cool.
As of yet anything is possible, i'm new to the program, and still learning to work it.
But i agree that would be cool, so i'll take that into consideration. I hope to make changes as i learn to use the engine. N yeah, i'm re-reading the Potter books at the moment! lol
I've added a new screen shot showing the updated GUI and a new new room. Also updated the progress report. :)
I actually really like the graphics. And I mean it. It looks so funny! The whole idea sounds good to me. I'm very much waiting for this game. :)
:D Why thank you for the compliment! I mean, i can't draw, but i'm relitavely pleased with the results. So yeah, thanks for the comment! :)
this looks nice, i'll be waiting.
:) Thanks for the positives. I have altered the GUI yet again, making it less cluttered and confusing to look at, and also slightly more user friendly. I have been working on several more backgrounds, and i'll post those here when the rooms are completed. ;D
Looks a lot better.
The inspect thing's kinda iffy even in concept, and in the GUI it's all scrunched and messy looking, so I'd suggest you replace it with some sort of symbol relating to the game.
Otherwise, looks pretty good.
Yeah, problem is, i can't think of anything right now, i mean, i'ts bassically a quick look option, telling you what something is. It's there so if you want to search for something in a room, you can easily, but so when you're not looking for something, the mouseover loading doesn't slow the game down, which is annoying. So i could use, say a glance option or something...
Ideas?
Thanks.
Yeah, perhaps just simply shortening the name of the Inspect option to something that wouldn't look squished would be fine.
Glance is a good alternative, as well as perhaps scan.
;D Scan would be great, as all the others are four or three letters long, so thanks!
Cool looking game, what'd you use to build the backgrounds? Doesn't look like MSPaint to me...
Looking forward to this one's completion (wondering about the inventory items though, they look...bland, next to the backgrounds, and the cook too, both lack a little in the detail you show in the other areas)
Cheers for the comments, and yeah, it's half paint, but then i use another program called brush, solely for its blur tool, just to mix it all. But yeah, i'm not quite happy with the cook either, problem being, when i blur a character, they develop a white outline around them, which is a pain to get rid of. When i have done a little more work i will post more background etc.
:)
New screen shot up, just to give you a taster of the new rooms which i have completed.
Just tidied up the top post, change dthe screenies and progress report, thought it was looking a bit of a mess! 8)
Sorry about the lack of updates, but i have had some family troubles - my dad crashed motorcycle racing, and has badly injured his leg, but i won't go into that!
Anyhow, progress has continued with the game, which you can check out in the main post!
:)
