Title: (NSFW) Sex & the Sea - prototype available
Post by: CherrySock on Tue 13/06/2017 09:27:32
Sex & the Sea
Adventure hentai game

The Plot

The game takes place in a fantasy world. The main character is an adventurer, although not a very successful one. His name is Melcior ("The Magnificent" - he always adds). He likes gold, booze, and women.

At the beginning of the game Melcior finds himself in a sticky situation in a port city of Menapontum. He has been caught having fun with the mayor's daughter by her angry father.

Our hero has to run. He manages to sneak on board of one of the ships leaving the harbor. On the open sea Melcior is safe from the vengeful father, but he has lost almost everything he owned. Thankfully there are other passengers on board. Some of them are pretty girls and all have some secrets. Melcior will have to discover them, regain his good luck and of course get some pussy in the process.

I remember the previous controversial game you presented here...And I remember that I actually came out on the side that defended that game, because it had depth in the gameplay and in the back stories of the characters, and the overall mystery was interesting, and also that the choice to be a nice guy or a nasty guy was a clear choice that the player could make...Not to mention that the game was funny as hell in places...

This new presentation though...Ughhh...

Are you just seeking controvesy with your text to drum up views or do you want to present the game to the wider audience and be taken seriously?

If it is the latter then here is a potential rewrite of your presentation:

The Plot

At the beginning of the game Melcior finds himself in a sticky situation in a port city of Menapontum. He has been caught in flagrante delicto with the mayor's daughter by her angry father.

Our hero has to run. He manages to sneak on board of one of the ships leaving the harbor. On the open sea Melcior is safe from the vengeful father, but he has lost almost everything he owned. Thankfully there are other passengers on board. Some of them are pretty girls and all have some secrets. I felt from the demo at least that your first game had a bit of class and quite a good sense of humour. Maybe don't fall into the trap of trashy presentation for the next? There are thousands of "hentai" games out there that are just tissue fodder. Present your game with a little more class if it deserves it.

Porn doesn't have to be trash. Anything can be art.

Yeah, I really need someone to write the texts for the game.
Thanks for the rewrite. I updated the description. Although I removed "flagrante delicto". Never heard that expression before.
I also changed back the last line.

This presentation very unsavory, like an old man giving away porno mags at a Toys R Us.

Maybe the AGS community isn't the best audience to be presenting the game this way to?

Oh, so, just the line that's going to create the most negative feelings towards your game from this community?

Errrr... good job? :-\

The game is what it is. If the blurb as written represents the tone of the game it's presenting, isn't that better than to wrongly give the impression that it is something it is not (i.e. a softcore/"sexy" game, rather than hardcore hentai that may in fact be offensive to many AGSers)?

Exactly

If this presentation creates negative feelings for you, then the game itself will only make them worse. So... don't play it.

If the game takes place on a pirate ship, why not use the word booty in the last line? :)

Either way, if the 18+ sign and title of the game doesn't give people a clear idea of
what kind of game it is, I don't think the text blurb will make any difference.

Yes, I stand corrected!

I was trying to be all diplomatic and everything, and I see this was actually misguided on my part...

I was trying to be PC for a game that is probably not PC...

Thanks Snarky for the clarity of your opinion as always... (No sarcasm at all here. I know such posts can be read that way but... I honestly mean this)

Best of luck with the game and your future endeavors CherrySock...

You guys are right. I wasn't around for the last discussion on the previous game, but it seems like we've all come to a good conclusion.

QuoteIf the game takes place on a pirate ship, why not use the word booty in the last line? :)

It's an inexcusable offence not to use this pun. (laugh)

I almost agree. Unfortunately it is not a pirate ship. More like a trade/passenger ship.
