The name is a joke but the scarf was inspired by Halloween and darkness.

What exactly do you mean by variety?

The one-winged scarf was inspired by Halloween and darkness?

http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy/images/e/e1/Kh-cloud.jpg

Sure about that? :p

And by variety, I mean not having the same exact face and hair... You can easily tell you copied the same sprite, I was just suggesting some variety to give those roles more personality.

Icey

Dennis is Batman's son.

As for variety, The scarfs only change his outfits, weapons, and mask or hat(if he has one on) Not Dennis himself. Well except for the Pedobearmancer scarf. sorry :(

R4L, let's not kid ourselves here:

Cloud Strife is one of the major contributors to Oceanspirit Dennis' looks (seeing as Cloud is his mother..Batman is his father, which means the the likelihood of Oceanspirit having wings was genetically speaking quite high).

Monsieur, let's not kid ourselves here:

It is an impossibility for Icey to "grow up". His ability to grow and advance has peaked. This is, literally, the best we will ever get. I'm not being rude to him by saying this, I'm being a realist based on past history.

Darth, let's not kid ourselves here:

Icey's never going to change any more than the members here will. We're going to continue soldering on blindly following after the hope in the unattainable dream of Icey someday figuring out how to stop being this way and becoming an actually valuable member of the community here. He's got talent, but it's raw, unrefined, and keeps getting spammed upon us in such an unusable fashion as to make it worthless. Still, we're not going to let go of our hope, as ill-placed as it may be. It's in our nature.

Furthermore, there will be someone in this community who will come along and reprimand me for being so uncouthly rude toward Icey. Sometimes the truth just hurts, so pardon me for telling it.

Myself, let's not kid ourselves here:

This post hasn't accomplished anything. You're just restating the obvious. ;D

Edit: Okay, Icey just posted while I was typing this. I don't know why the hell he assumed that the relationship to Batman was more relevant than his relation to Cloud, after whom he is more directly modeled. Oh wait..it's icey.

I just don't really like the fact that cloud is his mother. However I am going by what Ponch said last year about the scarf.

The funky music puts me in pimp mode, and not just in-game.  Fun stuff!
Icey, are those bat wings on OSD? I guess he really is the secret lovechild of Batman! :D

I will advance(grow up) with in time. As long as I don't see anyone posting anything negative about me the process will go faster. However at times like everyone else I do need help at times. ;)

Monkey, you are being uncouth and rude towards young master Icey.

And Icey, DDQ established in Blades of Passion that Dennis is indeed the love child of Cloud Strife (mother - adopted?) and Batman (Father). I know that OSD has no set canon, but that is just too good a joke to ignore as far as I'm concerned.  8)

Icey

Gasp! I never noticed. Even though I don't like the joke I find it funny at times to think about. So therefor, I never change anything that was said in the other OSD games, I just work off of them. ;)

Excellent plan. But in the meantime, I suggest you actually finish a game.  ;)

Thanks. And I plan to finish this with just about everything I said just to show that I can make a complete game with no errors.

At this stage it's not even rudeness anymore -- You come and you post insults on the game's creator, frontally, just like that! I'm even surprised no mod "punished" you yet, to be honest.

How about a thick, whooly, flowery scarf? The scarf of hippie-ness?

Icey

Works for me. I will see what I can come up with.

Haggis

Hmm... I like Monsieurs scarf idea, although could use a catchier name... i suggest but recommend none of these:
Peace scarf,
Flower power scarf,
Woodstock 1969 scarf,
Jimi-Hendrix's-purple-hazed-LSD-headband scarf... but this would actually be a headband?

Okay this thread has degenerated into nonsense.

This is now resembling a critics lounge thread of which it is not.

icey if you want critics on it post in the critics lounge.

It's obvious now we can't behave in here... so I'm puttin' on my Sith Gear and going Dictator on this thread and even the smallest rule-breaking will result in the thread being locked.

Not a bump or anything. I just though I have made enough progress to start updating again.(So Darth if this is something I can't do then do let me know.)

Any how  UPDATE TIME (x3)!!1

1 - The world Map
I have been doing so think and talking with a few people about the world map in OSD.
I was thinking of making a giant world map that would have a lot of things on it. However I knew it would lag the heck since the Map would be so big. So I came to a decision to make a world map similar to the world map seen in Archipelago Adventures. Only thing is it will be a grid map with squares that contain a small explorable map that has various locations on it.

2  - HP recovery
While I was working on the game I was thinking of some unique things that would make battles work better for people. You know how after you get into a battle RPG and sometimes after your whole parties life is really really and you just survived long enough to make it to the boss which will most likely be 10x harder but you have no more Potions and your mana is at 0 so you can not heal yourself. Well the fix to that is to have the HP of the player be fully restored after the battle.

I was thinking of giving the player the option to toggle the after battle HP restoration on/off. Turning it off and going into battle will give you bonus EXP. But if it's on then you will not receive no bonus EXP.

3 - [Possible] Tactical Sea Battles [/possible][/i]
I have began plotting how would I script a Tactical war battle (like a defense game).

I also have been playing a lot of flash games that involve this type of gameplay, but there is one game that has to be the best when it comes these types of battles.

Tactical invasion

Again sorry if I wasn't supposed to take that long to update a topic. I wasn't trying bump it up, just updating.

R4L

1. Why don't you just make a nice sized map? FFIII (or 6 or whatever it is) on SNES had a fairly large map, but it wasn't big enough to where it was frustrating to navigate. Besides, half the RPGs I've played you're mostly in towns, dungeons, or battles. The overworld is merely a small side track to those main parts.

2. Sounds like a nice idea if the game is going to be difficult.

3. Honestly, what's the point? It's an RPG right? Why not just make it standard RPG battles? Why throw in these little RTS-style battles?

Icey

The world map will not be big but at the same time not big. It's hard to explain but the main point of grid based map is so that it is easier to make/see. The world map is about 6x6 or 6x8(it all depends on how many locations I decide to throw in the game.

Another reason why I decided to have the recovery thing after the battle is because you can't use items out side of battles so this would be very helpful to a lot of people.

The first half of the game revolves around war. Pirates have taken over some regions  in the world that require your access to continue your quest. In order for you to actually continue you will have to take your army of soldiers to marked location and defeat all the pirate ships on the screen. Once you win your team will take over that location and most of the pirates will flee.

[Random battle screenshot]

Its starting to work out, I got stuck in the beginning cause it wouldn't select any command cards. However when I added the display line "I can click" to the attack command it seem to get things working and it doesn't how the display message so I think I will leave that there.

Monsieur OUXX

Icey: I didn't see any beta test of this before it got released... AHEM.

Icey

The game hasn't been released yet.

Update!

The PSP side game will not be added seeing how even though it checks for a OS thats not windows it still says it can't be ran on windows and it must be ran on the PSP even though its all ready running on the psp. :(

???

[edit]
So no PSP support, then. How're things going otherwise? I lost track when the world map thing came up, but seeing this is "the final game", I really think you're going to pull out all the stops and give us a hold-no-barrels ride. Cutting PSP sidestuff probably IS a GOOD idea- just focus on AGS goodness. I don't even own a PSP and never will, and they are dying out anyway: Why waste time to get stuff on a platform that has a successor already "close to launch".
Best of luck!

Icey

yep, But I found one solution that I need to test.
