And so, with the publication of this trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Uy6xQWt3P4), evidence of the game officially exists. :)

Thanks again for all your enthusiasm everyone! I can't help smiling when I read this thread. :) The game's name is indeed final. I purposely chose something "generic" so people would know what the game was about. You play as robots, and you solve puzzles. I suppose it was partly because we hope to draw a wider audience with this game, and if they're unfamiliar with adventure games, this might at least give them an idea what the game is about.
I'm glad so many of you like the GUI. We've changed its design at least twice since the game's inception, and I really like how it turned out. The design was meant to look something like a clanky old carnival ride (something bright coloured, fun, and slightly worn), but other people have told me it reminds them of an Etch-a-sketch or a toaster. Either works for me. :)
Grwooovy Greg won't be making an appearance (this game is basically a Nanobots spinoff with a new IP), but I do plan to tie the two stories together somehow. Example: one of the characters is a graduate of Robo Tech, the lab where Nanobots takes place. There will also probably be some other subtle things in there for the old fans. ;)
Chris (our own Scorposer) is indeed doing the music for the game, aaaaaand it's awesome. :) A great many people have told me they love the track in the trailer, and a lot of them notice the little Mario tribute that's in there. In fact, lots of people comment on the music before they comment on the game. :P
Ben304, a house like that would be amazing. In some of my early sketches it was a sphere, with the bottom half being a sort of basement. I figured that'd be a bit of a risky arrangement though, especially if all the bots tried to move the thing like a hamster ball. In the end I decided on the dome shape, but I couldn't think of a way to fill the top space well. The twisted staircase thing was suggested by Phil Fish, the dude who's making Fez (http://vimeo.com/3841540).
Mods, the less said about that robot, the better.
Eggie, REPRESENT!
Radiant, that had better say wooooo (actually I looked it up, thanks muchly. ;)).
W_ _ _ _ _ _ _ O!
I really like the robots habitat!
Good old Scorposer, known for his work on the halted DNG2 (Theres one game I'd like to see hit it big time too).
I'd like to mention what I've heard of his BGM is pretty top notch.

It's so excellent to see people from our community grow and prosper and work in commercial computer games! First if was Ionas, Dave, Alkis, Ivy, Vince, ProgZ, Nathan, Thomas, me, the zone II (don't remember the name), and another few!

Nanobots was pretty sweet, and by all indications this one will greatly improve on the concept. Looking forward.
This game looks very original, saw the trailer earlier.

Its nice to see a trailer after all this time.

Must. Have.
Also: Whooooooooooooooo! :=
Firstly, I would like to offer you my sincere congratulations for undertaking such an promising project. Having watched the trailer for this game I must say that it does a good job of enticing viewers by providing just enough content to warrant keeping a closer eye on its continued development. In my opinion, based on what I've read and seen, this game is very much like a hybrid between a casual and adventure game. This is not a bad thing either, as it would appeal to gamers of both groups. I will continue to keep my eye on the development of this game and may it be recieved warmly upon its completion.
Wooo, indeed.
Bless, Ivy. All you need is one screenshot for all the boys to be wooing you.
Sheep, all of you! Big, wooooly sheep!

Yep, that is definitely the intention! I've tried to take what I think are the fun elements of adventure games, and eliminated the parts that drive people insane. It'll still be challenging, especially towards the end, but I'm intentionally making the difficulty curve very gentle. And there will be a hint system again. I don't want anybody getting stuck.
Hello Erin Robinson.
I was looking at the screenshots of your wonderful game Puzzlebots and noticed one thing. Yuriko. She looks deathly sick with that Jaudice-like yellow skin of hers. I would change it. I know its a stereotypical asian cartoony skin colour, but it may cause players to disassociate themselves from the character. Psychologically, people don't like sick people. I would post photos to demonstrate, but just a quick look on Jaundice on google images makes me feel ill.
Notable news links!
Here's a sweet demonstration video, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3zpWaBo6xg&feature=player_embedded)where Erin and I chat about the game and show some exclusive game footage.
In addition, Puzzle Bots has been named by DIYgames as one of the top 10 break out indie games of 2010! (http://bit.ly/1XTpPn)
The game's been submitted to the IGF. Cross your fingers.
How can I have missed this thread :o
Woohoo :D
Looks absolutely amazing! Can't wait for this to get out :)
I think I know how to solve puzzle on the 1st screenshot ;D
Anyway, looks really good.
Looking good! Up until now I had the impression it would be something simpler with just puzzles but it's nice to see it's pretty much like Nanobots.
I'll most likely get it. I guess I should play the other games on WadjetEye first. I screwed up the original download codes and havn't managed to get updated copies.
I like the idea behind this game. I'm not sure about all this sweetness... but I know a lot of people enjoy that in a game; it's just that I'm more of a 'sad monochromatic psychodelic' kind of guy... :) BUT- as I played the previous (nano)puzzlebots game I found myself really liking it, despite its cute graphics and positive tone, there was some real depth there that got my attention and kept me in front of the screen.
I remember it was quite hard too. Are the puzzles going to be similiar in difficulty?
In a strange way it reminds me of Battle Bugs which was made by Epyx and released by Sierra.
I'm sure this game will be a little less stress inducing. Some of the levels in Battle Bugs made me want to pull my hair out.
It's still a very fun strategy game though.
I will definitely be checking this one out come the release date.
One of the men characters reminds me of Braid.
I enjoyed playing nanobots so I can't wait to get my hands on this game. It's cool that the graphic style looks like Erin's webcomics :)
fantastic graphics... time well spent... cool..
barefoot
This looks really promising. Looking forward to hearing more about it!

We did it by breaking several laws of physics.
Awesome! Though the fact Erin's name isn't mentioned anywhere on the Puzzle Bots pages is slightly perplexing. Is there any reason why you don't include a "Credits" link on the side by Story, Screenshots, etc?

There is the team page (http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/puzzlebots.htm?page=team). Is that what you're looking for? That reminds me that I need to add the rest of the crew up there.
Ah, well now you've made me feel I've gone mad. There was either no visible link to a team page yesterday or I encountered serious mental issues...
But that's exactly what I wanted to read! Some updated info on Erin who's been a minor celebrity the last year and something about Chris wouldn't go amiss :)
Other than that, good luck with the release!
Two reviews already!

The second one seemed a bit harsh on the final score.
So the game's out Friday?

The second one seemed a bit harsh on the final score.
Greetings,
I'm the Site Editor for Fraggs. Just wanted to respond and share my thoughts on Puzzle Bots and the actual review we posted.
After playing the game myself and reading the review that Ryan wrote up, I thought the review was mostly accurate. The Puzzle Bots team did a great job but the game has some obvious problems. Graphical flaws. The voice acting was rough and sometimes obvious that the material was read off a script. The voice acting was so rough at times I could have sworn the inventors were indeed the true robots. The controls we're rough and clunky at times.
With that said, the game was clever at times, fun at others. The game is a great attempt at creating a casual game that features robot humor, and a game I wouldn't mind if my child played it for a few hours. I appreciate the problem solving aspect of the game even if it was a bit simple at times.
All in all it was a good effort and the final result was good. I believe the review score was right about where it should have been. Let's be honest, to expect any higher of a score you would then have to compare the game to a Grand Theft Auto, Alan Wake, Super Mario Brothers, etc. You can't compete with those games quality, or their budget.
I'm not saying your game should be punished because you can not compete with the big studios, I'm simply saying if you feel Puzzle Bots is on the same level as those titles, you might need to rethink your side a little bit.
Have a good one and thanks for reading. It was a pleasure checking out Puzzle Bots and hope we hear more from you guys in the future.

Aaaand another positive Puzzle Bots review!

I'd edit the original post but Erin is the one who wrote it.
Shouldn't the game be moved to "Completed Game Announcements"? ;)
BTW I got a preordered download link today. Downloading now, will make some comments on it later... in few days maybe.
