A seemingly innocent date - a seriously disastrous takeover - 11-11-11
(not by clowns, sorry Ghost)
play it! http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=45020.0

This is the tale of James Marshall, who is plunged into darkness as a city wide powercut leads him to investigate the streets outside. Naturally, you'll have to play to find out exactly what it's about. There is mystery, rain effects and low budget cutscenes. Great for the freeware gamer :=

This is a small personal project, sponging off an iconic date like a bad movie studio ploy. I started it a week ago and hope to have it out by...well, you figure that out. I admit I am using default graphics found for free over the internet, it really is just a fun short game to prove to myself I can get something made in the space of 3 weeks, without having to wait on any resources whatsoever. Please note since writing that paragraph I failed miserably.

My main reasons behind making it were this: I cannot get to my Lost In Paradise files right now. I also wanted to find a way to minimize completely the effort it takes to create a selection of background and character art. I also knew this would only be possible if I kept the entire game outside, therefore - you visit only one or two interiors in 11-11-11. That previous comment is also void now. You don't visit any.

Thanks to Dualnames for his help with a module, thank you to Domithan for his thread about working on games late at night. I also owe it to the Bake sale folks/thread, which is what kickstarted the project. The game is cinematic and not very hard, standard point & clicking and inventory use etc!

Find out what happens on the 11th November :)
(contrary to popular belief it is not mods releasing a game)
This reminds me a bit of the Langoliers.
looks interesting. City without power, no people around. I'm eager to see where this is going.
Good luck with the (make a game in 3 weeks thing)
Thanks Nicky! Haha, Langoliers...only found out about "those" earlier this year. Yes, the quality of the graphics in this game will come close to that of the Langoliers tv-movie. :=

Probably m0ds releasing his game '11-11-11'... :P
I'm intrigued!
I hope the world won't end on that date, so that I'd be able to play it...

!! ;D
Also - thanks tzach...perhaps if you play the game at the same time it'll be a 4D experience. Without tweening. :=
This is rubbish, Darth, can we lock this, please?? One more time, Mr... "LoveGroove", and you'll find yourself with a well deserved BAN!
Spoiler
Looks great, m0ds! Reminded me of The Langoliers as well, heh
Downloading now...
Oh, wait...
Damn calendar!
LOL Snake and Chris!

I'm curious! I'll be checking this out.
Thank you Corby! And you'll be sending it to your recycle bin shortly after :P
24 hours to go! Aieee
You know, this'll totally make me forget that I won't be playing Skyrim that day! Lookin' forward to it!
/me inserts dragon sprite
Thanks Ghost! But hopefully it will make you remember to get on with your own game(s) ;)
It's 11:11! Well, it was.
The game is nearly ready, just a couple more hours before I can have it uploaded..
Side note: 11.11pm on 11.11th is the traditional start of Shrovetide here in Germany. I hope your game has clowns with noses that go honk?
No clowns I'm afraid - though that isn't to say a suspensful thriller with one in wouldn't work ;) I admit defeat in terms of getting this ready for said date, after a 30 hour stint in front of the PC my body shut-down.. So I'm just going to keep going under my own steam.
Rubbish computers can only render at a certain speed, but just about everything is done - it's really just a matter of making a few more puzzles work. Of course, using a rubbish computer and having a fairly large game means that everytime I click "test game" I have to wait 30 seconds or so before it loads - and that is time which adds up. Mind you, I'm very pleased with how its going.
And pleased also with a few things that have taken me ages to code in the past but took a matter of minutes this time round. Also - cutscenes and their timings can take an awful long time to get right, if you're a perfectionist like me :P Thanks again for the support..
Watch this space :=
ps. The deadline meant I had no time to get outside help, but as that isn't the case anymore if anyone wants to give the game a whirl and beta test it, please send me a PM!
Will get this out this weekend. Kind of stalled on the finalé section. Needed forum inspiration ;D
Added rain.

Beware of a wet mousecursor....
A little bit delayed after a writers block AGS style. But, it's being tested now. I admit I still have to finish off some art and one puzzle, but beyond that... well it's just about time it was tested. Thank you NickyNyce! Hopefully some good news in the coming few days.
Edit, I made a simple trailer for the game (slightly spoilerish, but not much - sorry about the low quality and the fact I forgot to turn the mouse cursor off)

Okay, I thought this game was a joke. But omg i r hooked. I r hooked like hooks have never been hooked before. Seriously.
Looks very... Inceptionmatic! Really some cool things you can do with those prerendered sequences.
QuoteI thought this game was a joke.
Thanks, it is still a joke - the main character is called James for a start ;) But a little more serious than night of the testicle (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=1430)...
QuoteReally some cool things you can do with those prerendered sequences.
Out of the box graphics have helped me make it quickly, and it's certainly fun to add kind of cinematics into the game without using video. But if LilGryphMaster were here to see where the graphics came from, he'd be furious ;) Thanks Igor.
(removed: apologies, to icey too, it was a heavy night)
IE: Working on some new ideas, thanks to testing. Thank you Nicky for helping find all the holes.
/me wipes brow
Just finished it, and it will be released tomorrow lunchtime :)
You welcome m0ds, my pleasure!
This will be a nice little present for Christmas and my birthday. And just so everyone knows, download this, it's got a great feel and atmosphere.
