I've got some questions for all of you:

What do you prefer, a blinking cursor if you move over a a hotspot, or a description on screen like in the old Lucasarts Games? i prefer the blinking cursor but I'd like to see what you would prefer.

I'm unsure if I should implement the Taste and Smell Icons, what do you think?
And if, any idea for a puzzle to use them?

Thanks!

I've uploaded several new screenshots hope you like them.

A narrator with a face? That's... new. Quite un-Space-Quest, though...

Are all of the graphics going to be ripped? And I'd advise you to get a proof-reader at some point...

Does the not finalized GUI include the "smell" icon from SQ4?  I think it only had one use, but it sure was fun to have around.

With all the ripped graphics I hope you put all the extra effort into plot and gags -looking forward to it.

Fantastic.. my father also introduced space quest back on the amiga to me.

Since then i love those old adventure games and also like games like the Atlantis series etc on pc.

Ok to the demo:

It's true there are alot of ripped graphics. But i don't think thats bad or poor. That gives it the right original space quest feeling. Still i hope you will also add many things by your own to make your game much better and with fresh graphics and characters.

So far i really liked it. Still i wonder if you should recreate the planet in the demo. Because the other areas except for the bar were destroyed and abandoned places during the war with vohoul in space qeust 8 or 12? I cant remember it. Keep the setting but change the colours abit make it looks like an active city. With people walking around etc. All in Space Quest style of course. Delete at all costs the battle tank.

There also still many bugs in your demo. On some places occurred german language (lucky for me that i'm german.)  ;D

I would also recomment to change some of the dialoges. I didn't liked it that there were so many (nothing special here - dialogs). That gives the eye symbole a negativ & useless effect.
For example if you look at the other space ship in front of the bar. you should make roger let say something cool, like..  "Wow one of those new trans-o-speedy 3000 ships. I wonder if i ever get such a ship." something like these things would be more interesting. Just an idea.   ;)

Fix this issues.

I'm looking forward for a new space quest game.
keep it up... you're doing a fine job.

To your questions:

1.) I would prefer the normal game cursor like in the original space quest games. People have to think and look around if the cursor blinks your quest will be to easy i think and people will play it in 1 hour through!

2.) You should implement the taste and smell icon. Your game will show what happend between 4 & 5 so that icons were part in that space quest timeline. Even if you don't use it often some dialogs could improve alot of fun if roger say something funny about smell etc. That gives you also the opportunity to add some riddles where this things are needed.

Is it just me or are the sprites very blurry?

@Radiant
That should normally not happen.
Did you use "smooth scaled Sprites"?

I give you all my backup to finish this game, I love Roger Wilco, (but a game make with a lot of rips is not my idea of a homenage...)

Anyway, I'm going to play the demo and tell you how is it!

Don't worry it isn't a copy.. The reason why he used so much space quest content is story based + the fact that this is cannon.

But people can see it like they want. I was beta-tester and i can garantee you from one sq fan to another. There will be coming something big in the house for Space Quest fans in the following time.  :)  ;)

Hello.
I would love the opportunity to be a beta tester for your game. I have been a fan of all the Sierra games!

PS. I loved the demo that you released for this game!

Hope I can be of assistance.

I have to be disguisting with this game V_v The use of ripped bg, animations, and characters, give to you a very little liberty to make your own game, not only to make a story in what else manner the bg let you.

Maybe you will need to do more BGs (or ask for help to make them), and the game could be a lot better. The way you're using the ripped bgs make me headache U_U

Post by: Brad Newsom on Mon 12/05/2008 22:06:44
even if the BG's are ripped..the only problems I have with the game, like many other fan made games is the fact that the pixels on various objects are larger than other sprites and BG's. It gets really annoying.

Yes, but the story is very limited....

See the "story syntax" he told.

"Roger returns to Magmetheus from Space Quest XII and stumbles into another adventure.
He meets Zondra and the rest of the Latex Babes of Estros (AGAIN), the Sequel Police and visits another Galaxy Galeria."

When i was child I thinked sometimes to do a game with ripped BGs, but i give up when I realised that the need of ripped bg Cuts all the creativity.

No ofense to the autor, I hope he can make a great game ;)

Do you really think, I tell you here the whole story?
That what is stated in the description is only ca. the first 20 % of the game.
And if you want to start right at the end of SQ 4 you will have to start with Magmetheus!

Please judge only after you have seen or better played the full game, OK!
Or ask the beta testers :)

Take it easy, I only talk about your explanations... if you don't like what we think that things... Make a better game description ;) It's important to do a correct advertisment about your game

Trust me, this game is amazing as it stands now. Sure a few backgrounds are ripped, but as long as the storyline is great there's nothing to fret about. The game's fun, long and challenging; the ingredients for an excellent Space Quest game. :)
Title: Re: Space Quest IV.5 VERSION 2.0 BETA STATUS NEED MORE VOICE ACTORS
Post by: agentbauer on Wed 05/08/2009 12:05:42
Finally the improved version 2.0 of Space Quest IV.5 is in Beta Status. ;D

I wrote a new soundtrack, made some new backgrounds, improved the dialogues,
created some new puzzles and made a voice pack.

The game itself is finished, but I could need some reliable voice actors.
The main characters and most of the smaller roles are casted, but some are still open.
If you are interested to be a voice actor, please contact me per E-Mal or PM, thanks!

@DLoThuggin

As I stated before, the game itself is finished but the recording and implementing of the voices is still not finished.
The game will be released, but it might take a little more time.

And if anyone is still interested in taking over a small role, I still have 2-3 smaller parts.
Just drop me a mail!

So, finally something new.
It has been a long time beeing quiet, but the game is still progessing.....
I have to wait for my voice actors to be finish recording the lines and then the game can come.

And here is a small sample of the new Soundtrack, you can download them here.

2 Tracks from the final game:

How do you mix the high res portraits with the 320 by 200 backdrops? Is there a simple way to do it?
