Title: Robotragedy
Post by: Gregjazz on Mon 22/11/2004 01:28:24
(whisper) Hello, this is me, Geoffkhan speaking. I'm posting this for my friend, Pijin.

-----------

My game is called ROBOTRAGEDY, and is the story of a little robot who can't go to the living room to see the show of Robotinna, a robotic singer our little buddy loves.

This is not the whole game.

Once he gets to the living room he sees on the TV that Robotinna has been kidnapped and then he goes out to rescue her.

I know the story is not original. First I was too afraid of the engine since I don't know anything of scripting but when I finished the part of going to the living room I realized the job I did wasn't too bad because I found my way around using the windows interface and most of all: imagination. I did a lot of animations and every thing Toby, the robot does, is animated -- from beaming up the objects he needs to cutting a fishing line.

So I thought, why leave the game so short when I can make it longer and better, and if with all this hard job I will make another game in one or  two years, depends of the acceptance of the first one, I decide it to go for a longer run. Both the escaping part and the rescue-the-girl-in-distress-routine are not originals, I know but when I finished the escaping part I didn't feel so strong as to let it go and make something new so I choose to blend it with the rescue part that I designed it to be the second chapter.

The full game is at about 70% finished and the rest is all designed. Now I'm drawing a lot of backgrounds and frames of animation.

Here are a few screenshots:

You should try to find a crazy font for the title. Maybe one of the fonts at http://www.1001freefonts.com will catch your fancy.

This game looks and sounds promising. I like the two Sam & Max in-jokes in the room (main character's room I presume?).

Geoffkhan: Other than posting your friend's game do you actually help him/her (I don't know if Pijin is a male or female name)? Anyway, I wish your friend good luck and hopes that his/her game will be completed.

Well, I've given him a bit of advice on it, but no, I wouldn't consider myself "part of the team."

Heh I wonder why don't you encourage him to register for the forum.

Yes, of course I did, but he can't. He lives in Cuba, and he sends me emails from the hotel he works at or something.

Anyways, the art shows promise, and kinda has that wacky look that Day of The Tentacle has.

Tell him the font, combined with the font colour, makes my head explode.

I suppose the text would be highlighted if the mouse cursor is over it, no?
