Title: Sam & Moos - UPDATE 20/10/03
Post by: Minimi on Tue 08/07/2003 12:31:10
####### 10/20/03###########
I've finished now the whole game actually, and finished 24/24 rooms, but I because of the lack on a good ending, I decided to make the game abit longer, including an intro movie, and maybee more animated cutscenes. This also means the game takes some more time till it's finished, but I don't want to release a game half-complete, so right now I'm working on making a demo of the part that I have right now, wich will be 24 rooms, and after some beta-testing, I'll release it.

######################## END OF THE UPDATE!

FIRST I MADE THE GAME MONOCHROME, BUT I RECONSIDERED AND NOW I'M MAKING IT IN COLOUR! CHECK THE SCREENSHOTS!

Hiya all! Here is my upcoming new game! Sam&Moos! If you like Sam&Moos there will be coming more adventures of Sam&Moos!

Here is every info about the game :

Introduction
Sam&Moos are two alien brother and sister cartoons. I created them for cartoon story's. Now they come alive in this short first adventure of Sam&Moos.

(screenshot 7-07-03) This screenshot does not show how its going to be, but shows how it was!
The prologue
This weekend Sam&Moos are invited by their beloved grandpa to sleep over. They are very excited, because grandpa tells them always great story's about how he once fought in vietnam, and survived with only one banana. He said that he approached his enemy's from behind, and they thought that he had a gun and surrendered. Ofcourse we believe him. Our grandpa is a hero!

But once he strictly said to us, to never open the chest with the round key!
So ofcourse we promised him to never do that. But now I am pretty curious what's inside the chest! I'm going to try to find the chest and open it, no matter what!

The Game
You'll be playing with Sam and you must walk through the house of grandpa. Search and research everything, and talk with everyone you see!
You have to think logically to play this game. Theres also alot of humor in the game.

Graphics and sound
The game is drawed in colour, and drawed with MSPAINT! There are lots of animations to make the game more alive.
There is some background sound to improve the atmosphere.

Licence
The game is freeware, wich means, you can play it without paying any money or credit. You can share it to your friends. You are not allowed to ask money for the game. Editing the game is not allowed.

Please let me know what you think of the game!

Sounds like a fun idea.  I really like your GUI, but I do have to say, I believe the word you are going for is "treasure".

Thanks! I'm going to change that right away... yeah énglish is not my first language! ;) But about the GUI! This is going to be my first game, to complete in AGS, and so also my first GUI. I figured it would be nice to make it transparant, and drawed the buttons in paint.. and then again for a mouseover effect. I was already considering in putting the graphics I used for the GUI and cursors in a zip-package... so you can use it for your own games ;) AM I SWEET OR WHAT?

I agree with Scummy, the GUI looks cool, and the graphics as well.
Hehe, but I actually thought Moos t-shirt said "m0ds" at first... ;D

"I'm going to search for the chest of grandpa"

That line kinda refers that the chest didn't belong to the grandpa, but rather that it contains grandpa, and I doubt that's what you mean.

If you change it to:
"I'm going to search for Grandpa's chest."
it would work better.

Just trying to help.  :)

Title: Sam&Moos 27th August 2003

The official release date of Sam&Moos is set to 27th august!, so soon you can (hopefully) enjoy my first AGS-game. Here are the features of the game listed. Btw... I haven't updated my website in a long time, because I like to first finish something of my game, and then update the site ;) And I completed the game for 90%, but its now more like some finishing touch, and testing by others! ;)

Game Facts :

Title : Sam&Moos and the treisure of grandpa
Author : Solidus Software (Peter Olthof)
Graphics : 256colour, in mspaint and psp
GUI : own graphics for the standard GUI, and own animated mousepointers.
Gamestyle : Lucasart
Sound : Background MIDI, no speech or sounds
Length : Medium length game, about 20 rooms
Language : English (will also later on be translated to Dutch)

More info : The style of conversations isn't offensive, though Sam&Moos are brother and sister and have most of the time fights and disagreements, so that means you can expect lots of useless discussions.
There won't be real puzzles in the game, and most of the time it's just logic thinking, though I heard from friends that played it already, that they got stuck at some places, so it's not that easy eitherway.

The game is ment to be hilarious and fun, and I did (and do) my best to make it as original as possible ;) Seeya 27th August! ;D

I already decided to get working on it further, after I finish my MAGS entry. I will send you the dialogs, when it's finished, so you can help me with it. Thanks alot wanderlady! I appreciate it, and find it good to hear, that there are people looking forward to it! ;)

Just struck me, Minimi: if Sam and Moos are aliens (which one is the male one, btw?) then how did their granpa fight in Vietnam?

Ah well, glad that it's nearly done. If you're not careful you'll run out of half-finished projects!  ;D ;D ;) ;) :P :P

Well, SSH... I haven't yet updated that part of the post, but I changed that part, because as you say, Vietnam is impossible, because they never been to earth. You can notice their gender between the legs, you know the 3rd leg of mankind. Sam got one, and Moos not. But ofcourse you won't see that in the game, because they got a pants on! :P

Don't worry, I'll keep plenty of games unfinished ;)
I just DO want to finish some games, so you can't say I never work on them, and only start new crappy ideas :P
