Funky Duck productions proudly presents the demo of...

Search for Sanity!

Have you ever happened to overhear a conversation between two customers at your local pub, that revealed to you the secret to wealth extraordinaire?
Well, that doesn't mean the penniless lowlife and the unlikely protagonist of a forthcoming adventure extravaganza,  mr. Doug Gimbrone, wouldn't have
- why, that's just what he did! And now it's up to you to guide him to the very foundation of the secret of the local asylum - a task less simple than it might appear...

Visit our website at http://www.funkyduck.tk or http://koti.mbnet.fi/ygolonac/funkyduck for more information... and don't forget to download the short preview demo!

only problem i can see is: characters are all a bit too simple compared to backgrounds but great none the less

Esseb

The door to the player's apartment goes into the bar :D. The demo is top notch. Do you have a possible release date, other than 2003?

Igor

Wow! This looks so very promising! I'll download demo right away.

Love your style!

AJA @ School

Thanks for all the comments, folks! :)

Esseb: Not really... My guess is that the game will be released in the late 2003 or early 2004, but I can't promise anything. It's done when it's done ;)

AJA: Yep, the whole team is from Finland.

Snake

This game is gonna kick...ass?

Yes, it is. Awesome job with the animations and I love the BG's!
Can't wait for the final release :) It's very professional and promising.

Downloaded and play through the demo (as much as it's playable) and must say i'm really impressed! Amazing graphics (completely adore your style- it's very warm and sweet), great animations (except maybe for walking of the main character- it would be good to add additional frame or two there) and it's very funny!

One of the most awaited games for me!

Kosm

Yeah, Thanks for the comments.

Thats one freaken bug. Damn. My code seems to need whole testing department to ensure there arent any scripting bugs.

Release date is unknown. Dont expect it anytime soon, more likely it will  be in 2004 than in 2003. Also it depends quite much from boosts in working activity we tend to get every now. ;)

Barcik

Just played through the demo. Very impressive work indeed! A few minor bugs: The door. In certain angles, Doug going up those little stairs to his home door looks weird. A few dialog bugs (or was it intended?) when talking to Weasel. Other than that, a very beautiful work, and very funny too. I just loved that granddad!
Currently Working On: Monkey Island 1.5

Heh... When you first said that the door goes into the bar, I knew you were talking about the image, but when Kosm misunderstood it as a bug, so did I :)

Anyways, the weird door is half-intentional... I noticed it after I had drawn the pic, but then I thought it would actually be quite a funny gag, so I didn't fix it. In the final game you can actually see a hallway inside the door (when it's open) that mysteriously "goes into the bar"...

Doug lives in a haunted house ;)

jannar85

Wow! Quite impressive!
The first thing I liked was a reply to all interactions... It's not often we get to see that in a indie adventure game! That was a major plus to your game.

Then, the menu was really cool... I liked the design of it.
Then, when I walked into the bar... I was amazed by the football match, really, really, really good to see the guests cheer when someone got a goal. hehe... That was also a major plus in your game. :)

Plus, I also loved the discussion between those guys at the pub... Really, really, interesting. :D

All the dialogues is great, and I really look farward to the final game.
Great stuff! I would have bought it if you were selling it, hehe, a kick arse game! :D
Veteran, writer... with loads of unreleased games. Work in progress.

Kosm

Esseb: Silly me. Of course there arent bugs in my script. *heh*. ;)

jannar85: Thanks for kind comments. Nice to see you think our demo has got some potential.

Timosity

Very nice looking game, are there puzzles in the demo, I just had a quick look and talked to everyone looked everywhere, I think, and only found a coin.
Just wondering if it's just a preview or an actual demo that you can finish before i decide i'm stuck or have done everything

Kosm

Its just a preview, so no puzzles. We should have mentioned it before :(

Gonzo

I just played the demo, the graphics and animation have really impressed me. It felt professional everything, down to little details like the animating TV screen - that was great. Looking forward to this one :)
