Title: Shade: A Hand-Drawn Adventure
Post by: smasherimp on Tue 13/12/2011 04:45:51
Story

Shade follows a young man and the journey through his own mind as he rediscovers his
worst fears after a loved one dies.

About

Shade is drawn using only 12 different coloured pencils. All backgrounds, sprites, and frames
of animation are hand-drawn on paper and scanned onto my computer and into AGS. Because
of it's time-consuming nature, the final product will most likely be quite short, though that will
depend on the community's response to the art style.

Progress

Story: 100%
Scripting: 10% (hehe)
Graphics: 35% (there's alot to draw)
Music: 70%

Expected completion: 2012

Let me know if you'd like to see a few more screenshots.

Looks fantastic! I love the naivistic art style. It's very effective and I'm a sucker for simplified yet stylish graphics. Would love to see some animations too. And I look forward to seeing how well it blends in with what sounds like a rather serious story.

Good luck!

+1, that really looks very good, and I'd defenitely like to see more of it! And we rarely see purely a hand-drawn simplistic style like that (Life of D. Duck was pretty memorable in that respect, too).
What you reveal about the story sounds intriguing, too- please finish this!

On a totally unrelated note, the swing in the second screenshout "reads" AUA, the German exclamation for "Argh!", and in combination with the title text it really seems to make sense ;)

Thanks for the positive responses guys! Makes me want to work twice as hard at finishing this. It could be awhile though, because I'm rather terrible with AGS.

And @Ghost, I can't believe someone already figured out my hidden message. I speak semi-fluent german and thought that would be a little subliminal message that I would reveal months from now, but you picked it up day one! Good job =D

Anyway, I'll post a new screenshot or two tomorrow. Unfortunately I haven't animated the main character yet so he'll still be in the same position, but at least you'll all get some more eye candy :)

Stay tuned for updates!
