Omg! Haha, thats a great idea! It might be in your best intrest to fix some angles on him or the photo, like the bathroom and the elevator. There is a lot of lighting and animations to get done well. I think if you get that all done you have got yourself a amazing game.

Yea, there are a number of close-ups within the game. For example, when you interact with the control panel on the elevator you get a tighter view on the buttons and they light up and such. ;)

Just wanted to update with my preliminary main character animations. I am also going to populate the game with modified characters using the same loops. Keep in mind these are GIFs, and look much nicer within AGS.

Comments please.

SOCKMONKEY & COP-MONKEY

Hah. I love the idea. And the photo backgrounds are a nice touch.. For some reason, this makes me more interested in the game than the usual cartoonly backgrounds would.

The animation looks great. Did you take all the photos for it yourself?

One more thing: I noticed that the text in the screenshots is kind of small. If your game is going to be high-resolution, I'd suggest using a bigger font.

Rock on, Sockmonkey.

Thanks Ben,

Yea I took all the photos myself with a digital camera. I animated the monkey by setting the camera on a tripod and configuring it to take a photo every 5 seconds. Then I stood beind him and held him in walking positions. Then, I painted out everything but the SM in each frame and there it was. There are 11 frames to this side view. The UP and DOWN views are also finished, but I'm still working on the diagonals. It's tedious, but I'm almost there...

The fonts are a bit small...When I tried to drop in larger fonts the characters had annoying, white outlines around them so I went back to the default font for the time being.

Resolution. If It's higher than 640x480, consider very few people downloading it. Anyway, looks great. I thought that this is kickass 3D in first sight.

The game is 640 X 400, so filesizes aren't TOO big, and the game still looks nice.

This does look pretty cool Sockmonkey

I love the animations, that's a pretty clever method, and pretty original for an AGS game. I'm sure this will generate plenty of interest.

I've never heard of a Sock Monkey either, probably not a popular product in Aus, or I'm just not in the know about commercial products these days, I guess you know about these things if they were popular when you were a kid or you have your own kids. It took me a while to know what pokemon was, and I'm glad I missed that fad, but sock monkeys, that's no fad

Sockmonkey's are kind of commercial and kind of not.

It's the kind of thing that grandmothers make for kids. They used to actually be homemade from socks, but I think some are mass produced nowadays - and the company that manufactures that particular kind of sock (with the red heel that becomes the mouth) market sockmonkey kits so that you can make your own.

On the other hand, its not a corperate logo like Pokemon, and not everyone is familiar with them (even in the US).
