23:00, I restate my assumptions:
1. The Cell is a horror/thriller adventure
2. It will take longer to make than originaly assumed.
3. This is because it's going to be longer and better.
Therefore: It's going to be worth the wait!
All counters reset to zero:
GFX: 0%
Music: 0%
Story: 0%
Scripting: 0%
Changes since last time:
- The story will be somewhat different. Updates will follow shortly.
- New GUI that uses a combination of LEC and Sierra controls.
- I'm getting better at drawing!

The first of what will be many rooms filled with puzzeling puzzles.

This may or may not be the main character. I still have to decide wether to redesign this guy or make a completely new dude. He may not be representative at all.
more to follow shortly...
Interesting concept. :P
i hope to see your project game finished, just a word of enthusiams (or however its spelled) from another starting gamemaker.
p.s
MY FAVORITE TIME TO WORK, at NIGHT WhEN no-one can see you!!!... ???
sorry its.. kinda of late and im losing my mind.
Sounds pretty cool to me, Y0ke!
Keep up the progress! Looks like you've got it more than underway :)

Sounds cool, but I wanna see some graphics.
But... What happens when you escape the cell? Is this going to be one of those games with a low room count?
Sinister: I know. I have been lurking around theese forums for a while, and I have seen the rise and fall of some projects. And now I have put down too much effort in this game to just leave it. Nighttime is the only time! I work from 13.00 to 21.00, so it fits me nicely Keep up your game-making as well! :)
Snake: Thanks!
SURGE: I'll hopefully post some graphics tonight when I get back from work. And about the room count: This was ment to be a small game. (As it is my first game.) I also have a larger game on the drawing board, but it requires some help and support from the community and that in turn is hard when you are a n00b with nothing to show. ;)
However I have got some ideas that could make it into a larger game. If I decide to go with it I might release a demo of only a couple of rooms, an intro so to speak, and make a sequel later on.
...and check back tonight (about 12 hours from time of posting for those indifferent timezones) There just might be pictures! :)
Edit: BTW... My avatar is the main character...
I might be interested in helping with music....
I like the concept; really, the first step to making a great game is to write a great story (but that's only my opinion).
I'll check back later, because I'd really like to see some graphics.
I guess if you need any help with anything (art, scripting...) I'd be willing to try and help you out a little. Just drop me a line, or something, and I'll see what I can do for you. ;)

sounds nice but show some screenshots !!!! :)
MAN, you people are OBSESSED with screenshots!!! ;)
I'm at work right now, but I'll post something when I come home. I've been drawing for three days almost non-stop, (my shoulder actually hurts! :'( ;) ) so I do have some small things to share. In the process of animating the main character right now.
Don't get your hopes up, I'm still learning this stuff. ;)
we hunger.... screenshots!

Screeeeeeeenshotssssss...
looks great. just one thing about the character : he's arms are to long :) but i really like how you did his jeans, great work.
Check out the top post, you screenshot-zombies! :)
The background is NOT finished (I tinker with it now and then) and vital objects are missing from the room.
Mage: Yeah, they are a bit long perhaps... I might do something about that.
Updated screenshot. Trying to get more atmosphere.
It sure takes a hell of a lot of drawing to make an adventure game! ;)
yeh i know what you mean ;)
great screnshots btw, but maybe the main character should be a little more relaxed?
-osc
Would you be relaxed if you were locked in a cell by a psycho? ;)
But, yeah... I see your point (if you are thinking about the arms that is)
I also think I should give him an "asslift" in the side view. I think it might be a little too low at the moment. I haven't animated him yet. Saving that for a day when I am feeling especially masochistic. :)
The game looks neat, and your sprite looks good, I think, but I can't help but feel he needs a bit of ... pizazz. Just a little something to make him a bit more unique and noticable. A tad more personality.
Otherwise, it looks really good. I love games that start out in the thick of some mysterious trouble.
It would be awesome if he has a ball and chain on his leg, nvm. It looks and sounds good, I look forward to it.
LostTraveler: I am NOT animating a f***ing ball and chain in his walkcycle!!! ;D
Maybe I could give him an electronic version or something. Maybe something that gives him an electrical shock... That could amp the tension a bit.
Kinoko: I know what you are talking about. I also think he looks a bit generic. A fancy hat is out of the question ;) but maybe something...extra. Maybe the previously mentioned electric "ball and chain". I'll get to work on it. If you (or anyone else) have any suggestions and/or bright ideas just drop me a PM. I need all the help I can get! :)
bump
Personally the arms look fine to me (then again, maybe they're too long fo the body at question. I happen to have rather long arms).
I really like the graphics!
Ironically, I have recently started design on a short one-room game, and one of the tentative names was The Cell! :P I'll have to use some other name now.. Ooh I know! ;)
It might not even end up being called the Cell. It was supposed to be a one-room testgame, but then I fell in love with the project. :)
Rewrote it to become a longer game, just to increase the chances of it ending up in Production Hell.
