Story

Dagger Flamebeard, granddaughter of Captain Bloodhook Flamebeard,  has got the Flamebeard curse, to sail the Caribbean in search of the family treasure. She just cannot sit idly by, she must follow in her family's tradition. So the 17 year-old girl takes up the challenge to find what belongs to her family. What happened to Bloodhook Flamebeard and the 'Banished Crew' and that friendly English gentleman, Lord James? She starts her journey on a smallish island called Walrus Island, a rather friendly and peaceful non-pirate-port, where she lives with her Uncle, the only Flamebeard not cursed by the notion to sail the seas.

I'm just trying to make a fun piratey game with more completeness and length, and one that finishes the story from the first one. Play the game to see me fail  ;D

Description

- 5-act full game
- lots of pirates
- lots of pirates drinking grog and ale
- verb coin
- lots of pirates
- tons of ugly pixelled bgs of port towns and beaches
- tons of puzzles you'll hate
- 320x200

Team

It's me mainly. Afflict has helped with setting up some of the puzzles. I have The Scorposer's word on the music and sound, though it will be a while before the game reaches that point.

Progress

- Story and Puzzles: 100 %
- Overall: 25 %

It looks better than the first game, but that's of course understandable since you're not working in a deadline this time. I enjoyed Family Treasure quite a bit and am interested in trying this out when you release it. Good luck!

Pixel artistry at it's finest. The Dagger sprite is simply amazing, great work!

This looks like a wet dream of an AG fan.

Those backgrounds look phenomenal, buloght, great work.  I especially like what you've been able to achieve with the clouds with just a simple design.  I also like how Dagger has red hair, but I guess that's just a matter of personal taste.  ;)  Good luck, can't wait to see it finished.

Thanks for the kind motivation, it helps to get going on the game even harder :).

Ivy: yes haha, you would  ;). The reason for the red hair is it's in the family 'Flamebeard', hehe.

EDIT: I was helped by krysis in that he pointed out the contrast in the cloud colours make them seem to close, so I made them lighter :), if anyone thinks they look worse now, please let me know :).

Big brother: TFT2 (http://www.streetcrew.co.za/clanworks/thefamilytreasure2.html) Thanks for that honour ian. And thanks for helping with correcting Dagger's eyes  :)

Thanks for all the compliments and well wishes  ;D

Um, if someone has wondered why the verb coin (left bottom in second screen) is a skull with a cutlass through. Well that it is the skull of Arrow Flamebeard, the great Grandfather of Bloodhook Flamebeard who left the treasure buried as in the first game. He unfortunately died muttering and swearing while trying to pull the sword from his skull. He was finally hunted down for his ill deeds and pilaging of the port towns all accross the Caribbean. Luckily he foresaw his fall and buried the treasure and distributed the maps before his demise.  This will also be explained in the readme or manual (if I have one) more fully.

The game will also feature full-on pirate slang, but do not fear this can be turned off by a button from the options for the less vulgar listeners. Afflict has proven a very good pirate talker (scarily good at it) and he will help me do the translation.

Maintain your modesty and you will go far.  I really like what you've done here, Buloght, though I'd like to see a bit more color variation and depth to the ocean, particularly near the shore.  Caribbean waters tend to be very aqua colored and translucent.  Impressive, champ.

wow. i totally missed out on family tressure part1 but after seeing this post about part2 i had to go and play it. I really enjoyed it (although peoples concept of caribbean music always makes me laugh seeing as how im from Barbados (a caribbean island) but all in all it was a great game. i know this is the post for part 2 so i have to say what ive seen for the graphics so far look great. the characters look to have lots of personally and i expect good things from this game :) keep up the good work.

Thanks elf.

It didn't try to use Caribean music, I'm well aware of caribean music. I was going for pirate music, all the tracks I got were titled 'pirates' or 'jolly roger' or something comical I thought would fit the game mood.

Thanks to posters  :D
