Title: This Is A Job For El Presidente! - Trailer!
Post by: Akatosh on Sat 05/05/2007 19:33:17
Like Cascade Failure, this is going to be a mAGS entry. Unlike Cascade Failure, I'm going to finish it in time (I hope). Also unlike Cascade Failure, it's not on hold.

Yeah, well, screw that.

There is a new screenshot available.

Oh Yeah !

Will your game be pure adventure? Or it will mix some minimum RPG/Management stuff? I do see a lots of town around.
Anyway : Sounds fun. :D

Definitively my kind of game - as long as 'El Presidente' stay as lovely cynical as the screenshots you post.

I'm Looking foward for this game.

It'll probably contain a very little bit of military management. And yes, El Presidente *is* cynic like that  ;)

This looks great! I love your style, Akatosh. Oh, and 'were' in "That's were most of the trade between Yankees, Commies, and Europeans are" should be 'where', not 'were'.

I already got PM'ed on that... but thanks anyway. I should probably fix it  ;)

Also, I'm glad to see you like that style. I takes a bit more work than my old style, but seems like it payed of.

Akatosh, this sounds like a really fun Evil Genius-esque game, I wish you good luck with it. Can't wait for it!

Although, I'd really like to see this developed into more than just a MAGS game. Maybe after you finish it, you might want to make a deluxe version or a sequel that combines more RPG/number-based strategy games that I seem to love so much/management with adventure.

Anyway, good luck again with it, this is surely a game I'll play.

Wow the graphics are simple yet lovely and that map surely shows that this will be a good game. I will definitely play it when it is out! Btw, akatosh how old are you?

Check his profile.

Back onto topic, this looks good Akatosh. But I have a question; how long will this game be?

I'm 16. And I fear the mAGS-edition won't bee too long (due to Real Life and discovering a N64-Emulator intereference), but looking at the kind of feedback I get, I'll probably extend it a bit afterwards... if you say "please"  ;)

Please. Pretty please. Pretty please with lots and lots of C++ coding on top. And also, why just a bit? This sounds like a brilliant game...

A little detail giveaway time!

Spoiler

That yankee government decided to investigate the case of the two lost yankee agents. Bwah. Where is the TIS (Tropican Intelligence Service) when you need them?

Also, there is a General y Mota in the game. Anyone recognising the name?  :=

/EDIT: HIDE tags, Akatosh. HIDE tags. It still isn't a difficult concept.

HOORAY Ninjas!

QuoteNinjas are pretty cool. But I prefer pirates.

nah...  Ninjas can throw stars. While pirate's standard shovels have a lower range of action. All south-american dictatorship banned pirates anyway but never ever said a word against ninjas. I swear.

Ninjas are pretty cool. But I prefer psychoanalysts.

Can we have Guerilleros who raid village to buy Sandwiches? Please Please Pretty Please with Woody Allen false beard on Top?

The "airport" and "palace gates" locations have been finished. Leaves me with a few left... but it turned out I can't draw cities.

(Just to let you know this isn't dead  ;))

Also, new screenshot.

This game has a great style and an original theme.  Can't wait!
Title: Re: This Is A Job For El Presidente! - Music.
Post by: Akatosh on Fri 22/06/2007 15:20:34
I'm having some trouble progressing (I just can't draw mean enough looking military planning centres and run-down enough shack cities  :'(), but I've found some freely downladable music I'm gonna use for the game. [taken from tropico.de]. You can download it here:

Just wanted you to know it's still not dead  :D
Title: Re: This Is A Job For El Presidente! - ANOTHER new screenshot!

Still not dead! Here is a screenshot from the infamous television series "News With El Presidente", broadcasted every day, right after "Information With El Presidente" and before "Hollywood Blockbusters El Presidente Edited Slightly". We can see the Presidente* of America here, giving a speech.

* this spelling intentional.

Akatosh! This is all looks great!

QuoteI just can't draw mean enough looking military planning centres and run-down enough shack cities.

You should not worry : it's precisely because everything is cute that the game have a cynical humor implemented deep on any screens WHILE KEEPING EVERYTHING LITE. Like a Mary-Popin-style  musical comedy... with dictatorship.

And your style of 'minimal-art' drawing make your game very appealing for most of us. Cuze it automatically highlite the important-point and make the player 'keep the focus' on the game. (That's the most difficult to acheive in game-making) and as I recall Me Go Store by is art , style and speeches (most important in that kind of game) totally succeded.

To your towns ... any townish background will do perfectly the job as long as you implemented color-signs of poverty / time destruction. Military base the same : any room can do the job with good [name some military symbolic here].

I'm really looking foward your game.

And yet another bumpidy-bump-bump. Don't you go DYING on me, game!

Progress is finally moving along rather smoothly again, so expect release somewhere till the middle of next month. Meanwhile, to keep your interest alive, I've put together a small flash trailer (teaser?) you can watch here (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a23/FAMILIAR_QUEST/NewsWithPrez.swf).
