hello guys. whenever i do a game, even the simplest one, when i compile & run it, i see in the upper screen a big back stripe, and the background is stretched. any idea why this is ?
Have you got a notebook or a TFT screen? They sometimes have problems with other resolutions than their default one...
i got a normal screen... and also, the ASG games i dled from here work 100%, the problem only exists on my own games.
Make sure you've unchecked "Show Black Stripe" in the General Settings.
Kidding!
I would suggest making sure that the backgrounds you're using match the resolution that you're viewing/testing the game at.

The black stripe is one of the default GUIs, you can disable it by playing around with it in the GUI editor. The backgrounds are stretched because windows runs at a 4:3 aspect ratio, whereas by default ags games run at 4:2.5, or something...
Do you have a GUI set up that' s a stripe? It'll probably be all empty except for a black box/stripe.
I had that same problem too until I checked all my UI's. There was an extra one that was like a background grey/black stripe to put buttons on I guess. I don't know what it was for hehe so I deleted the black box part and it looks okay now.
Before you run the game, maybe try running the winsetup thingy in the game's compiled folder to make it stay in windowed mode. I play all the games I download as full screen so I can see the games and read the text hehe.
Might double check that your backgrounds are the same pixel height/width as your game resolution too.
this happens to me, at least on both top and bottom, so i just resize my screen vertical to make it fit. but if its only on the top for you, then you may need to also move up the picture and do some resizing. dont worry, once you go back to windows, xp at least, the screen will be put back properly. from my experience
