I don't know how much will this help you, but you may try going here http://user.tninet.se/~vqb114l/ilb/tutorials/ptni.htm

If you're talking about a fighting game I suggest you use MUGEN as the engine.

You can also have a look at the Advanced Section (dunno if this is the right name) in the demo game, it has some "arcade games" there ;)

BTW, I just remembered I found a bug in it... I'll post it later  :-[

Unless it is a subgame in an adventure game, I won't suggest you to make similar things with AGS. Though it may be able to develop similar things with heavy scripting, AGS is mainly designed for creating point & click adventure games (oh parser games too ;D ), and may not be the best choice for platformers or action games.

There're lots of other good game engines more suit for action/platform games (I can't name them as I never used them), you may have a look with them first.

Also this is a forum/message board thingie, not a chatroom, so don't expect a reply too soon (and sometimes people won't reply because they don't have anything to say), so you need to be patient.

Also, don't double post.

If you want to make a platform game (jjr2) you should use game creator 2 or something

but the best is to make it from scratch with c
or use directx with delphi. called delphiX

These will work.  They're heavily programing based tho.  But once you get the hang of their languages, you'll be able to make the game you want.

Pretty much take your pick.

As far as GC2, isn't that a delphi based engine?

Best of luck!

:D I hope this works, but I didn't check it yet. go to http://www.gamemaker.nl ... It looks cool to me, but then again. I don't know how you want your game. Is it a platform game, a shooting-up, a first person shooter? Also with this engine, I believe there are limits. I used another engine for making my own arcade games, but I can't find the place another wehere I download it. My first arcade game is still in the makling, but when I saw AGS, I liked it much more! Anyway, hope I helped you. It's a Dutch site, but I believe everything is in English there...

Ah, I've already tried Game Maker. It seems powerful, but there are some things about it I don't like. Mostly the loading time, and the fact that its graphical event editor gets in the way.

By the way, yesterday I found this language that's made especially for 2d games:

http://fenix.divsite.net/index.php?opcion=1&lang=en

It looks like the most powerful thing you can get for free. The only problem is that it's still in alpha stages, and most of the documentation is in Spanish. Also, it's not as easy to use as AGS, since everything is script based.

Ben, I don't know the existance of a delphi game creator exactly, I believe it was there or something :/

anyways... I did program some action games a year ago with delphi 5. I had some components installed like delphiX.

You also might want to try these:
