Title: Best way to use a flashlight ingame
Post by: azteknologya on Sun 06/05/2012 13:08:49
Alrighty then,

I've just embarked on making a few demo games, with simple levels and sprites and now i think i'm ready to begin making an actual storyline. I really want it to be dark and give a limited view, so i thought hey, i've played Amnesia (regrettably) so I decided on the idea of using a flashlight. But my limited knowledge of AGS kind of stops here. It's probably gonna be something plainly simple like, changing backgrounds or somehow adding in a template over the background.

So, what would be the best way to enable a character to have a flash light ?

PS. so far I haven't been able to find anything on this in the forums/on the internet. If you can, please link me.

A search of the three technical forums for "flashlight" produces the plugin and the module, among the first five results.

Yes, just in case you weren't aware, there is a search feature on the forums. When I just did a general search for "flashlight" I got the module thread as the first result and the plugin thread as the second. The plugin is outdated and non-portable. The module is verified to work with the latest versions of AGS and portable to any system that runs AGS.

Ah thank you, I didn't realise there was a search function, before I was just manually searching the forums for about an hour. Saying it now makes me feel stupid.

Thanks for your help !
