I know, I know... this is a common problem and there are lots of threads already. But I didn't have this before! While I was working on the game, running without debugger (for full screen), the error just came up out of nowhere. I never had this before and now all of a sudden full screen isn't working anymore. It's not like I was messing with any settings.. I was just working on a room script and now I can't see full screen anymore.

So this is the dreaded message:

There was a problem initializing graphics mode 640 x 400 (16-bit).
(Problem: 'This graphics mode is not supported')
Try to correct the problem, or seek .... etc.

What I also don't understand is why is the game even trying to get into 640x400 mode? My actual game resolution is 320 x 200, as per the General Settings. Does this have to do with trying to get into full screen? I just don't get it. :'(

I did try the various options from the set-up exe but without success. The weirdest thing of all is that my actual screen resolution IS 1280 x 800 so why doesn't the 4x nearest neighbour work?

I'm no expert on the technical side of things around here, but I have experienced problems trying to run a game from the editor when Norton's "Sonar Protection" is running (runs fine if I load directly from the compiled folder).  I just mention this since AGS seems to have worked fine for you in the past, so maybe it is something else interfering with your game?  Then the trick would just be to find that thing and disable it while you're working on AGS.

Do you get this exact same message every time, regardless of the filter setting?

What happens if you start a new default game and try to run it at full screen? Or another AGS game you downloaded?

Good morning.  :) Another day, another restart, and now it works again. This is kinda scary... ::)

My guess would also be that it is somehow related to external issues... though I am pretty sure that my graphics driver was not updating or anything. I have no idea.. Next time it happens I will compare newly created games and "third party" AGS games, that will be interesting. Thanks for your replies, guys!
