I have totally no idea how to do this.
I want to make it that the character climbs up and down a ladder.

if i am right, you have to make a new view and make it that when the person clicks on the ladder it switches to this view and goes down.

how do you do this?
any help would be totally appreciated.

thanks,

That's basically it, more or less.

Is it completely automated?  Like, you click the Hand icon on the ladder, the character automatically walks over, climbs down the ladder, and stands at the bottom?

If so, I personally would take a screenshot in-game of the character standing at the top of the ladder.  Then take another screenshot with the char. at the bottom of the ladder.  (Assuming you use Photoshop or Paintshop Pro or something...)I'd cut and paste them together so you can see where the start and finish positions in one shot.  Then I'd draw the in-between frames of them climbing down, each frame on a separate layer.  When all those were done, I'd delete the background layer, leaving only the climbing-frames layers and a transparent (or pink, for non-alpha channel) background.  I'd crop the picture so it only contains just enough space for all the frames, from standing at the top to standing at the bottom.  Then I'd make only one layer visible at a time, and export each one as a separate, transparent-backgrounded PNG file (because I loves my alpha channels :) ).

This way, you just make the character Walk to their spot over the ladder, change the view to the climbing-down frame cycle, run it, and at the last frame you change the character's location to the spot at the bottom of the ladder.  Climbing back up is the same, just in reverse.  I'd use all this stuff if I wanted to make sure the climbing was realistic, like each hand and foot are definitely planted on a rung with every move.  You should also include a leaning-down motion at the top for mounting the ladder, and a stretching-foot-to-ground motion at the bottom, if you want to be uber-cool. :)

Of course, if this is more like a simple 2D platformer game, you could make it so the ladders are just walkable areas, and also make them regions, so when the character walks onto them they automatically shift to the climbing animation view, then shift back when they're off the region.
