Hi, Im new btw.

Anyway, first, I followed the turtorial (without the thing creating a key ad stuff, I made my own things). But then; I found out that I wanted to try to change the main-character sprite. So I did, I changed it in all the four standard directions and had about four frames at each. Before this, the character had the build in sprite, and would go where ever I wanted him to 8in the walkable area) but now, with my own sprite, he only goes some places.
He goes:
- From the place he begins and half the screen to the left.
- Whaere I have a goto point, so if I click at a object to pick up, he goes there, and i can go back, but not go back to the object without picking it up or looking at it.

That is all..
Have this problem occured before? Is there anything I have done wrong?
I edited the sprite out of the sprite that was there before (the ROGER one) so I think the sprite is the same size, but dont as many frames as the ROGER (is it Roger Wilco) one..

I would be happy for any reply..

Did you use some scripting?

Also, with the Debug mode is on (Game options), start the game and press Ctrl-A. You'll see all the walkable areas. Just to make sure they are correct.

PS. When you edited the character graphics, did you made a new view or just replaced the existing sprites in the default folder?

Peefy

No, I didnt use scripting.. I am very new at the program, so I havent been able to.

Where can I find the debug mode? (or the game options if you want) Anyway, in the place where I coose walkable areas, the whole floor is market blue (jkust as it should be and was when it worked). I have tried to color it blue again, and again, but it wont work better (or worse).

When I edited the graphics, I only took new images over the ones that was before.

QuoteWhere can I find the debug mode?
Left column: Game Editor - General settings. Anyway, as you didn't change it, it should be on by default. Just run the game and press Cntrl-A to see walkareas.

Peefy

Heh, It showed the same as I choosed..

Anyway, if this isnt a common problem, its probably me doing something wrong. I think I will start over again and doing all after the manual.. Atleast until I have learned anything..

I hadnt come far anyway..

Are there any hotspots with walk-to points you defined? Remember AGS moves character to the walk-to point even if you click on that hospot with the walk mode. So, if the character is standing on a walk-to point and there is a large hotspot around wherever you click on the hotspot character tries to reach the walk-to and since it already there it won't move at all.

Actually, I would prefere there was an option to disable/enable walk to the walk-to point in walk mode. :P

Hey, that might be it! Anyway, I have started over again. I fond out taht I had a old version of the program (it was on a cd that came with a magazine some time ago).  Anyway, thanx for the help, now I dont do that mistake again.

Scorpiorus

Yeah, it's reasonable to have the latest version with all the new features and bug fixes.

Welcome to the comunity, btw! ;)

~Cheers
