Title: Comic Book Feel Format
Post by: on Tue 02/12/2003 23:49:02
Just a question I am hoping that somone can help me with........

I am working out an idea for a game but will focus heavily on the feel of playing an adventure game in a comic book format.
(eg. Balloon Pop Ups, Sound Effects Appear on screen).

However I was originally going to do an intro in flash and convert it to an avi but was wanting to know is this format going to be more work than its worth as I am unsure how to add many animated cut scenes and various pop up balloons.

I know how to do dialogue but not various speaking balloons coming from the character or sound effects when they perform an action of to cut to the next scene.

you could make the "pow" an object that appears, and even animate it to seem like its coming at the player of the game.  there are already speakballons here or coming soon.

all in all, it shouldnt be that hard

But do you think that will all the animation and avi files that I have to include the file size will end up being far too big and slow the game down?

well, if your game is 2 rooms long and a 2 second avi file, then no, but i dont know how long of a game you are looking to make.  you dont neeeed avi files, you can script cutscenes in ags too
