I'm running ags on Windows XP and cannot enter the editor properly, I always get this error message saying "ROOMEDIT.CLB could not be loaded. It must be in the same folder bla bla..."
Strangely enough, now I retried I got the same error message, only that "accomole.dll" was missing.
Anyway, for both of these files applies that I have them in the same folder as the editor, so I really don't know where the problem is.
I couldn't find similar problems somewhere on the FAQ or knowledge base, so it doesn't seem to be a widespread problem - yet I hope there's someone able to help me.
Thank you for at least trying... *sob*

Where did you unzip AGS? Try placing in into C:\AGS folder or some other simple path like that.

And how do you run the editor - do you just run agsedit.exe or do you have a shortcut on your Windows desktop?

ROOMEDIT.CLB and accomole.dll is in the program folder, 'ags_261' or whatever that is. It seems like you ran the program other than in the folder 'ags_261' or whatever. Did you run the program in your game project folder? That may be the problem.

Thanks a lot, it really had to do something with the destination to where I unpacked the game. Huh, I'm a bit ashamed now because it turned out to be so simple... Just my zip program opens the archive alright and displays all the files so it seemed I had unpacked it already. Doubleclick on the displayed exe files in this menu works fine for the AGS games, but didn't work out for the editor. Now I unpacked the archive with rightclick on the zip to my AGS folder, started the program and it worked.
I'm really really happy, now I can get going. Thank you for replying!
