If you plan to use a fake account, at least don't put in todays date as your birthday two times in a row... :

The best way to learn the ropes is just to hang round the forums and soak things up. Follow the tutorial Domino linked, read through some threads, play around with the editor. Don't think you have to jump right in at the deep end - you won't make the game you want to make on your first attempt, you don't have to release every test game you make, and PLEASE don't be starting a new thread every five minutes just for the sake of it (it won't make you a bigger part of the community, it'll just annoy people). Take your time, think before you post, and you'll get along fine.

And of course, make sure to READ THE RULES before you post, and use the right forum.

(Maybe this should be in the BFAQ and/or a sticky somewhere, given the amount of times it gets asked? Any suggestions for general Newbie Guidelines?)
