Hey, I think ESPER, the game, might greatly profit from a more atmospheric sort of dialog, a-la QFG4, but the manual is not very clear on how it works. Any help would be appreciated.

Remind those of us unlucky enough  not to have played QFG4, what that means...

Well, if you don't know what it is, you obviously don't know how to do it...  ;D

anyway, Quest for Glory IV had full screen pictures of the person you were talking to. There's an option under "Speech styles" but it just comes up fully black. There must be a way to direct it towards certain graphics or animations to use, but I don't know exactly how to perform said redirection...

Set the characters Talking view? Works for me, but the text is hard to read....

I reckon then in this case you would just make a big view that covers the whole screen? And I've noticed that about the talking text in all the modes except Sierra. It's like CJ wanted it shadowed, but made it illegible in the process...

I've found (and bare in mind I've only played with QfG4-style a VERY little, and that on 2.62, so it might be different in the version you're using) that you can make the view any size you want, AGS blacks out the rest of the screen for you.

And about the other text modes - yes, but you can turn the shadow/outline off, change it's colour, or the speech colour to make it more legibile in them, and none of that seems to work in QfG4 mode. (Again, bare in mind I don't have a great deal of experience with it - I might be missing something.)
