I am begining my new game, however I am not making my own backgrounds. I downloaded a background pack off of a website and am using those. The thing is when viewing the pictures in the windows sampler they are quite small and when I upload them as room backgrounds in AGS you can play in them and all but theres a big green bar at the top and bottom of the rooms. I think this is because the rooms are to small or cant fit into the resolutions of the game. Anyways, can anyone tell me how I can fit each room so they fit into the game and look good that way?

Make sure your in game resolution is the same as the room graphics you have. Check the room graphics resolution maybe in a paint program, then make sure that your game resolution is the same to that.

For example, in "Insta-Game" (One of the downloadable graphics packs) I think they have 320x200 backgrounds. So if you're using "Insta-Game" make sure you have the in game resolution set to 320x200 so the background exactly fits your room.

Also you could check if the green bar is created by GUIs or anything else.

Hope it helps.  :)

If you want your game to look more like somethign you made, just use paint. My first game was simple. I drew a detailed room on paint and saved it as room1.bmp in my ags file. When you looked at a drawer you found a key, which you used to get out of the room. From there you explored all of the rooms, talked to people, and uncovered a plot to turn the world into zombie slaves. One of the objects was a sword, and my game had a loose combat system.

One of the better parts was how you collected gold coins and traded them in for new weapons and vehicles. It wasnt a graphical masterpiece, but it was really fun to play.

Did you, by any chance, created the game called "Escape from zombie city"?

Did you check this forum's rules thread? It has resources, like the InstaGame pack and other sources of stuff.

You'd be surprised what you can do with paint - although I can't really talk because someone does my art for me. Find someone who won't mind spending five minutes knocking up a few basic rooms for you and then tart them up yourself using paint, adding the objects and details that you need then saving them as new rooms. These 'shell rooms' helped me a lot.

Hey, Escape From The Zombie was made by me (but it was a sucking game as I made it just for gaining experience with the AGS scripts). But this game, poop743 made, really sounds like mine.

It might be because of the green GUI buttons you use.
