Moving Steam Achievements to GOG

I've already got achievements implemented in Steam, and I'm looking into getting these working in GOG.

Based on the instructions from this thread, it seems like you need to do some work in C++ to get GOG achievements working: https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=52432.msg636528308#msg636528308

Is there a way to get the achievements working with GOG Galaxy just from within AGS scripts or will I need Visual Studio or something else?  Thanks!
