I have drawn my pics for my new game in GIF format, can AGS only use bmp's and jpg's?

I think ags can´t import GIF's, but there are programs, like psp, that can perform batch conversions from a bunch of gif's to pcx.

I will just use bmp's from now on. Thanks! ;)

Currently AGS can use only *.pcx and *.bmp. PCX are smaller than BMP so try to use them.
In the old times of the DOS editor you could use JPG.

In the old time you can use GIF too (don't know if the supports were really removed or not), but GIF import was too buggy to be of any use.
Don't ever bother to use JPG (even if it may be possible), its lossy compression will mess up your pics and it will NOT help in reducing the game's file size anyway.

So your best choices are BMP or PCX.

Doesn't it really not matter, since AGS compresses and saves them the same, which causes them to be the same size?  I could only see how it will be good to use pcx for the meaning of making anything smaller, would be space saved on your harddrive.

I don't mind about space. I have installed LOADS of crap on my PC, and I have only used 1/4 of it's hard drive!
