Title: help animating objects
Post by: on Sat 16/07/2005 12:10:47
Hi Would anybody be prepared to give me a small Game Template with just a couple of rooms with some Object Animation so that I can see where I am going wrong trying to set a animated object animating.

Have had advice from a member here and I agreed with the method but am unable to get the bloody animation to start, as the Demo for 1.5 is not ready yet and I cannot find ant Templates on this site are surfing the net.

Please can somebody help me as I learn best from example.

Thanx a Million

Post the scripts you've used to animate the object, and maybe we can tell you what is wrong.

And don't write thread titles in all caps, we can and will read all threads in the forum, and the chance of someone looking into it is bigger if you "behave" ;)

Made up 4 sprites in Sprite Manager went to View Editor, placed 4 frames in Editor It's a small desk fan, blades just revolves around namedÃ,  5:FAN is this object 5. ?

Went to Room Editor/Objects, in the room1 I have placed a desk, clicked on new object, placed the arrow, and changed the image to my fan object.

Hit the interaction button while picture of the object was shown top of page, according to the help file as follows:

“To animate an object, you first of all need to set the object's view to the correct view number (use the Object.SetView script command), and then use the Object.Animate script command to actually start the animation.”

Into the Interaction Editor I go to ‘Interact Object' â€" Object Set View Number

Where:
Object No:Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  “This must be the object no 5 as above is that correct” ?
New View No:Ã,  Ã, ?Ã,  what view is that ?.

NEXT COMMAND: Start Object Animating
Where:

Object No:Ã,  Ã, Is it 5 again ?
Loop No:Ã,  Ã,  Ã, Is that the start frame number
Speed:Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Is it 0 for the start of the frame in the Sprite Editor?
Repeat:Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Self Explanatory.

I have tried every combination I could think of but on testing the fan blades
are always stationary.

My Player Character animates and moves using mouse clicks ok.

If I can master a one object animation I will be off and running.

An Example Room would be great though.

Thanks for the help, only new to this great programme.

he doesnt need a template, as most of those dont have any objects that animate. he needs demo games or full source games.

go ahead and get that demo game, it may not be fully complete, but there are animated objects.
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=21088.0 is the lastest, so give it a try, and as said before, do not post a topic/subject in all caps. ever.

and DONT double post topics. you already had a post about this just the other day!
