Whenever I make a room or character that's bigger than 320x200 pixels, the picture doesn't zoom out so you can see it when you test it out. Is there a certain size I have to stick to or can I somehow fix it?  ??? The pictures in other peoples' games are obviously bigger so do you just skip testing?  That's risky if you do...I FEEL STUPID!!! :-[

Have you checked the general settings and made the game 320 x 200?

If you import a bigger room image you should be able to used the Zoom slider for the room so you can see it all

Why a character bigger than 320 x 200????

Apart from that...

It's not over until the fat lady sings..

You need to decide your game's resolution/size before you do anything else. In the General settings pane, there's an option right at the top where you can set your game's screen size.

Did you actually think the solution to your problem implied the skipping of testing the game...?

k. so i tried changing the resolution and i still can't see the whole character or room in the test window. is there a way to expand it? also, the general settings of the room resolution are gray(instead of black and usable) so i can't change them.

There are no "general settings of the room resolution". There is a General Settings pane, where you can set general settings for your game, and there is the room Properties pane which shows the resolution of the room. I think you have the two backwards.

If your background is bigger than your game's resolution, AGS will automatically scroll the room when you walk close enough to the visible edge of the screen. You're not going to see the entire room's background image in a space the size of your game resolution if your game resolution is smaller than your room's background.

There's no reason that I can conceive of why your characters would need to be bigger than your game resolution. Maybe, the very rare, one-off, just-to-prove-me-wrong...but...I just don't see the point of it.

You said you tried changing the resolution of the game...so what resolution is your game? And you may need to re-import your room background if you changed the resolution, but I'm not sure that you have based on what you've said.
